after my third horrible gp appointment I need help. Here is the full story…

been exhausted for over a decade, cold, tinnitus, tennis elbow, nerve pain, back ache, low, down, dry skin, upper arm swelling etc etc. gps always said iron fine, TSH fine not much else.

Private well woman test showed low iron, folate and vit d. normal TSH but low free T4

I’ve been taking supplements for years so obviously not absorbing. Had iron infusion, vit d and b vit injections (that I paid for) and want a retest but gp will not test for anything other than TSH as he says t4 is nonsense and he won’t test for the other things that were not tested - antibody’s, selenium, iron, magnesium, zinc vit a etc

where can I get these tests? If I go to an online source then what? I’ve tried 3 GPs now and they think I’m a hypochondriac. I’m on sertraline and HRT so it’s not that. Feel no better after iron etc

I want to see someone who will look at the whole picture and interpret that tests properly. I also want to know why I don’t absorb vitamins from diet or supplements properly. I’m looking for someone who understands central hypothyroid issues too. Can anyone recommend someone? I’m desperate. I slept for 15.5h last night and I’m still exhausted and freezing despite being under a duvet and everyone else being hot🙁

You are advised to get full thyroid profile bloods done to include TSH, FT4 & FT3 + vitamins ferritin, folate, B12 & D3 and antibodies before your appointment to avoid wasting your first visit.

For supplement recommendations please start a new post. You may just need better quality/higher dose products.

Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

There is also a new company offering walk in & mail order blood tests in Crawley, Hove and Reigate areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...
