Back in the thyroid zone!

Been a while but I’ve been over on another site PMRGCAUK,

jeez these autoimmune diseases , the gift that keeps on giving ! Long story but on Pred for that , tapering into my 10th month. Fabulous group, as is this, but taken my eye off the ball with the thyroid lately! Anyway availed of the Blue Horizon test plus discounted micro biome test. Listened to a zillion podcasts lately and it’s all about the gut 🤪 Anyway not bad results. Still gluten and dairy free , feel not too bad in the grand scheme of things.

CRP < 0.6

Ferritin 78.7 ( improved from last time as I’m back on red meat I think, but still room for improvements) Range 13 - 150)

Magnesium 1.0 ( over supplements!!) ( 0.66 - 0.99)

TSH 0.47

T4 total 91.8 ( 66 - 181)

Free T4 18.1. ( 12.0 - 22)

Free T3 4.04 ( 3.1 - 6.8)

ANTI TpA 13

Anti Tpg 13

Vit D 103. (optimal 75 - 200)

Vit B12 948 ( 145 - 569 ) over supplementing !!!

Serum Folate 25.10 ( 8.83 - 60.8)

So my questions are I think my Free T3 should be higher ?? Not under an endocrinologist at the moment and my gp is worse than useless so can’t have that conversation. Any mileage in taking T2 ? I did take the test without taking my NUTRI THYROID for 3 days before so maybe that’s helping normally.

Vitamin D also has scope to improve . Have luckily spent 3 months in the sun this winter and taking 4,000 units plus K2 . Should I increase dose?

Serum folate is low , where do I go with that ?

I’m trying to head off some longer term problems so any advice is gratefully received in this do it yourself environment we seem to be in today 😊

What are you taking at the moment thyroid hormone wise?

When was your last dose of Levo & T3 before the blood draw?

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw, last T3 dose 8-12 hours before blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process)? Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.

Your vitamins are generally pretty good.

Folate is only 31% of that range so you could buy a separate 400mcg methylfolate to add to what you are already taking.

Vit D optimal is said to be 100-150 so you're about right.

There have been a few posts about T2, I'll try and find one to link. The general consensus was its not worth it.

Hi Jaydee1507 , another night owl 😁 Thankyou for your reply . Yes followed the protocol . Not on any thyroid meds . Take Nutri thyroid, 2 tablets a day , but stopped 3 days before test . They will run out soon and no longer available so will have to search elsewhere!

I will add in methylefolate.

Listened to a podcast by Dr Amy Hornaman about T2 . Interesting but there’s always a hard sell feel about some of the US podcasts. Although there does seem to be some amazing Functional Medicine practitioners out there . Seems a whole new world of approaches to auto immune disorders. Anyway we have to work with what we have available 😊 Never stop learning!
