Monitor my health - results

I have recently taken a test with monitor my health, :- Results...

TSH 0.01mu/L...range0.27-4.2

FT4.20.9pmol/L.....range12-22

FT3 8.4pmol/L...Range 3.1-6.8

Docs comments suggest I am hyperthyroid. I'm taking 1.75 thyroid-s. Is this too much? I do feel a bit "edgy "and restless!

I would say yes as you are feeling it and FT3 is over well range.

When did you take your last dose of Thyroid-S before the test? It should be 8-12 hours before the blood draw.

It was about 11 hours before blood draw. I feel myself that I have been a bit too keen to increase thyroid-s, I have also lost about 9pounds in weight and that is not desirable in my case!

OK, so your results will be accurate. In which case your results indicate you're overmedicated.

How quickly have you increased the dose?

On NDT one expects to see a low, even suppressed TSH but we'd expect FT3 to be in range, in the upper part, with possibly a lower in range FT4.

If I were you I'd reduce by 1/4 of a grain, give in 6-8 weeks, see how you feel and retest.

Hi thanks for reply, I have already decided to do what you suggest(great minds?) Starting on 1.5 grains tonight and should be able to afford test in about 6-8 weeks. Was it you that told me about monitor my health reduction in price with code? If so thanks - if not thanks to whoever did!

I increased the dose very carefully and slowly so will educe the same way.

I have mentioned the 10% code and linked to it, but can't remember in whose posts it might have been - goldfish have better memories than me 🤣

Was the blood draw at the very earliest, fasting and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test?

Due to the blood tests alone being introduced along with levothyroxine, i.e. T4 only when we take 'other' thyroid hormones they cannot relate to numbers. It is how 'we feel' on a particular dose. We can adjust dose slowly up or down. If you feel 'edgy' just reduce dose slightly.

Your FT3 looks high because you take Thyroid-S, which is T4 (converts to T3) , T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. It is how the person 'feels' on a dose. Before blood tests and levo were introduced we took NDT and small adjustments were made until patient felt well.

Did you allow a 24 hours between last dose of thyroid-s and the blood test? Did you have the earliest blood test?

Dose adjustment should be upon 'how the patient feels' except doctors seem to have been told that TSH alone should be the guide.

Hi, thanks for reply, about 11 hours before blood draw and NOT fasting. I think I will just lower dose by 0.25 grains and see how I feel! Oh dear almost wish I had kept on levo and just tried to persuade to increase dose!

Fasting makes no difference to the thyroid hormone levels (FT4 andFT3), eating can lower TSH which is why, when the TSH result is important, we suggest people don't eat before their test and drink water only. But when on NDT it's very likely that the TSH is going to be very low or suppressed anyway, it's the T3 in it that does that.

When did you last test test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

These need to be optimal for thyroid hormones to work well
