Was test done early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

FT4: 21.7 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22)

Ft4 is 97.00% through range

FT3: 4.7 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8)

Ft3 is only 43.24% through range

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

B12 is too low

Are you vegetarian or vegan?

When were folate, vitamin D and ferritin last tested

Improving low vitamins can help improve conversion rates of Ft4 (levothyroxine) to Ft3 (active hormone)

Thank you again! Is Ft3 too low and if so what should I do?. I'm taking vit. D. B complex and have just started B12 sublinguil. Eat a healthy non vegetarian diet. Just experienced a very unpleasant 'flare' (TSH went to 50) but things appear to be returning to normal now. Ultrasound scan on the 6 of March might tell more

Low B12 symptoms

b12deficiency.info/signs-an...

methyl-life.com/blogs/defic...

With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a B12 supplement as well as a B Complex

Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

B12 range in U.K. is too wide

Interesting that in this research B12 below 400 is considered inadequate

Vitamin B complex

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

Difference between folate and folic acid

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

Thorne currently difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20

If you want to try a different brand in the meantime, one with virtually identical doses of the ingredients, and bioavailable too, then take a look at Vitablossom Liposomal B Complex. Amazon sometimes has it branded Vitablossom but it's also available there branded as Yipmai, it's the same supplement

amazon.co.uk/Yipmai-Liposom...

or available as Vitablossom brand here

hempoutlet.co.uk/vitablosso... &description=true

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endo.confex.com/endo/2016en...

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and continue separate B12

Thank you for responding so quickly. I started sublinguil B12. two days ago! I fancy that the neuropathy is already reduced. Do you Think that T3 looks Ok? It is such a novel experience for me to get this reading.

Only just read earlier reply

Meanwhile get vitamin D and ferritin levels tested

Retest Ft4 and Ft3 2-3 months after improving vitamin levels

You should see Ft3 increase and Ft4 reduce a little

Hello again. Latest news. TSH down to 0.09. Back to no test of T3! Resisted the GPs suggestion of statins. Levo backwards to 100 one day 75 the next. GO resisted my suggestion of some T3. A draw I reckon!!

suggest you get TSH, Ft4 and FT3 testing done yourself BEFORE considering reducing Levothyroxine dose

Do you always get same brand Levothyroxine at each prescription

ALWAYS test early morning and last dose Levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Only drink water between getting up and test

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning.

you could easily reduce your dose. Your t4 is in the upper section of ‘normal’, plenty of if is being converted to t4 and your TSH is extremely low presumably because of the high dose of levo you are on, especially if you’ve been taking it for a while.
