blood test results

hi everyone. I haven’t been on here for a while, but I got some results back today - sadly with no t3.

I’ve been on 2 ndt for the last four weeks after a few years of 125 levo - I had to stop the ndt because I was unable to source it.

Does this mean anything to anyone?

Tsh 0.17 mlU/L - range 0.27-4.2

Free thyroxine 10.8pmol/l range 12.0-22.0

Ps - I changed back to ndt when I found some, mainly because I was developing serious joint pains. Everywhere!

Thanks in advance for any input. X

You have to leave 6-8 weeks after any change of thyroid meds or dose before retesting, this gives time for levels to settle .

When taking NDT it's essential to test FT3, this is the most important test. Because taking T3 in any form it lowers both TSH and FT4 levels, and you must know your FT3 level to be able to know if you are optimally medicated or whether dose needs adjusting.

thank you for replying. I’m so frustrated that they didn’t test t3 - It was Superdrug that did the test - so ended up being a waste of money. X

retest again after 8 weeks on NDT

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

When were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 last tested

Do you normally split NDT as 2 doses

Day before test last 1/2 or 1/3rd of daily dose approx 8-12 hours before test

all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus antibodies and vitamins

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins

If you can get GP to test vitamins then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service ) and 10% off down to £26.10 if go on thyroid uk for code

Thank you, Slow Dragon, for your reply. I'll order a comprehensive test from Blue Horizon in a few weeks - I can't believe I wasted £60 on the Superdrug one and only got TSH and FT4! Lesson learned. I've had Blue Horizon before, but not for several years so I have no up-to-date vitamin levels.

I supplement daily - Vit D, Vit B12, Co-enzyme Q10, Glucosamine & Chondroitin, and Magnesium

I feel generally well on NDT - and also did on 125 Levothyroxine - but the terrible joint pain started a few months ago and sent me in search of ndt. I'll be patient and wait a few weeks then retest - for a more accurate picture of things.

Thanks again.

Medichecks is often cheaper than Blue Horizon

Blue horizon does include snap shot cortisol test

Always test thyroid levels early morning.
