Usual protocol followed stopped B Complex 4 days before, fasting, last Levo 24hrs earlier tested 8am

Finger prick test (Folate and Ferritin failed, they are resending for Ferritin) refunding for Folate

CRP 0.74 (0-5) slightly lower than June

B12 96.3 (37.5-150) this has gone down since June despite daily Thorne Basic B so ??

D 76 (50-200) going in the right direction this is up on

TSH 1.65 (0.27 - 4.2) this is lower than June

T3 4.42 (3.1-6.8) this is similar to June

T4 16.9 (12-22) this is lower than June

TAg 23

TPO 215 (higher than June)

Currently on 75mcg split 25mcg at night (2 hrs after food) 50mcg in the morning (an hour before food). All supplements are kept 2 hours / 4 hrs from Levo as recommended.

I currently eat a gluten/dairy/soy/maize starch/sulphite/sugar/alcohol free diet.

Symptoms: Tired (but not as bad as before), super heavy periods (had scans, nothing unusual), mucin on legs/arms/in pits of collar bones, weight has come down a few kg while on 75mcg, but still 10kg over 'normal' for me, allergic rash/irritation on cheeks last few days, some anxiety but not as bad as before. Muscle aches after not particularly strenuous tasks.

I'm thinking of asking GP for a trial of 100mcg for 8 weeks and see if T3 comes up.

What do I do about B12 going down - any recommendations?

I'm 68.5 kg so close to optimal dose guideline (I know its only a guideline).

Maybe GP about periods again (Transexamic Acid works but makes me feel dreadful). Or see if 100mcg resolves this?

Any pearls of wisdom would be gratefully received!

Yes …agreed ask to increase levothyroxine to 100mcg

Perhaps initially as 75mcg and 100mcg alternate days

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and separate B12

If B12 still low after this at next test

Perhaps add separate B12 3-4 days a week as well as daily vitamin B complex

Have you looked at the PAS page? Testing B12 on B supplements is practically meaningless as levels of B12 in the blood can stay elevated for months post supplementation.

Thanks I’ll take a look. I was taking Thorne Basic B and stopped 4 days before testing. My B12 is now lower than in June when I wasn’t supplementing so I don’t think I have the elevated issue you mention?

Hi Regenallotment

There are others who will come along with more knowledge than me. But i just wanted to say that my periods went completely haywire around the time of my diagnosis. First off they disappeared, then came back and were every 3 weeks. As my dose increased they became more "normal". Latterly i hardly noticed it. That was a revelation for me as they had always been heavy and painful. Now disappeared again!!! 😕. About to turn 47 so could be age. Could be the t3? Not sure! I have poor recovery after exercise also. Not nearly as bad as it used to be before adding t3. Sorry I'm not much help but just wanted to say that my symptoms improved as my dose went up.
