Hi

This is my recent blood results. GP tests every 6 months as tpo antibodies >1000 I am at risk of developing autoimmune thyroid disease in future.

Test done 8.10am with water only.

TSH 2.3 (0.20-4.50)

Free t4 18 (9-21)

My last test in Feb was

TSH 2.9

T4 18

so gone back down again. I know that probably means very little but had hope it would have gone up not down. No t3 test done or vitamins. Will be arranging private test when i can affordo one

Thanks in advance

Have you coeliac blood test done via GP

Are you on strictly gluten free diet or dairy free diet

Definitely need to get full thyroid and vitamin testing done at least annually…..probably every 6 months until start on levothyroxine

Yes. I tested negative for coeliac.

I take vit d spray better you spray as i was deficient in the past. Also igennus super b complex but stopped that a week before the test. Is it just normal for the TSH to go up and down?

Was 2.5 then 2.8, 2.2 then 2.9 now 2.3

Only 5% of Hashimoto’s patients are diagnosed as coeliac, but approx further 80% find strictly gluten free diet helps, often significantly or is absolutely essential

ALWAYS worth trying

Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am and just water between waking and blood test

Retest folate, ferritin, B12 at least annually

How much vitamin D are you currently taking

What was most recent results

Test vitamin D twice year when supplementing

Are you also taking magnesium supplements

I take 3 sprays daily of vit d. Last private tests were March 2020. All results on my profile.

Vitamin levels looked optimal to me.

All my nhs tests have been at 8.10am with water only.

Tests from 2020 are too long ago to be relevant

No folate test in 2020

B12 was a bit low

Come back with new post once you get new vitamin results

Cheapest option

Test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 plus thyroid levels once year

Test vitamin D twice yearly

Use this test 6 months after full thyroid and vitamin test

Thank you. My gp did the tpo and they were >1000 so don't need them tested. Not sure if they will test vitamins though.

Ask them to do so

Full iron panel test for anaemia

B12 and folate

Might not get vitamin D tested on NHS

But they should test vitamin D for anyone with autoimmune thyroid disease

I will try. The GP doesn't acknowledge i have autoimmune thyroid disease though. I'm just at risk of developing it in future apparently.

My vit d has been 23 before and gp never mentioned anything about it. Also ferratin has been as low as 15 before but fine as it was in range 🙄

It’s ESSENTIAL that vitamins are optimal otherwise TSH tends to be low and you can’t get diagnosed

Optimal vitamin levels are

Vitamin D at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Serum B12 at least over 500

Active B12 at least over 70

Folate and ferritin at least half way through range

Ferritin that’s at least over 70 and nearer 100 may be better

Never assume iron is low if ferritin is low

If ferritin is low you need full iron panel test for anaemia

OkThanks for the helpful info.

I will look into getting private testing done.

It was 4 years ago when the gp tested my antibodies.

If i'm correct in thinking that slowly over time the thyroid is destroyed enough that it won't function properly.

No timescale on how long this will take ether i'm guessing.
