But what if you are not deficient in some of those vitamins? You will be upsetting a balance by taking them rather than targeting deficiencies..

The tablets contain B12 and Vitamin C - vit c can affect the uptake of b12 if they are taken at the same time.

Also other minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, can impair the absorption of iron. pharmacytimes.com/view/r587...

The advice from the Mayo Clinic is Do not take zinc supplements and copper, iron, or phosphorus supplements at the same time. It is best to space doses of these products 2 hours apart, to get the full benefit from each dietary supplement.

it has the methyl version of b12, think that is absorbed different from normal b12

The absorption is similar though the retention of methyl B12 may be better. However for best results methyl b12 should be taken along with adenosylcobalamin which is the other active form of b12 .

Doesn't matter if it's methyl or cyano, the iron will block the absorption. And, if any does get through, the vit C will stop the body from using it correctly. Vit B12 and vit C should be taken two hours apart.

It also has folic acid, rather than methylfolate. And very small quantities of everything. It's just as rubbish as every other multi, I'm afraid.

sorry not sure what you mean , i have edited the post and linked to main site where it has proper ingredients list

What I was referring to was having three ingredients lists on one listing!

One says "Active ingredients". But I really cannot understand why some things are in one list, some in two, some in all three lists.

The listing you now link to seems to be more sensible. :-)

As we are always saying here, there is no good/great multivitamin.

First of all, they generally don't have enough of the active ingredients needed to raise low levels or deficiencies, for example it contains 50mcg B12 and if anyone was low in B12 they'd need at least 1,000mcg.

25mcg D3 = 1,000iu and again this isn't enough to raise a low level, it's just about a maintenance dose for someone with a good level already.

K2 is the correct form (MK7) but at 11mcg it's nowhere near enough, the recommended amount when taking D3 is 90-100mcg.

Magnesium is 100mg and when taking D3 we need the normal amount in a separate magnesium supplement which is 350-450mg.

It contains both zinc and copper. We Hypos tend to be high in one and low in the other and they should be balanced. So it's really not recommended to take either unless we test and know which one we need.

Q10 is 10mg whereas the usual amount in a stand alone supplement is 100-200mg

Pteroylmonoglutamic Acid is, I understand, folic acid and rather than say folic acid, folate or B9 they've disguised it as this rarely seen name, so is it synthetic folic acid which the body needs to convert or is it the bioavailable form methylfolate?

Certain active ingredients shouldn't be taken together.

Vit C and B12 should be taken 2 hours apart because the Vit C can stop the body using B12, this supplement contains both.

Zinc and magnesium shouldn't be taken at the same time.

Zinc and copper shouldn't be taken at the same time as zinc affects absorption of copper.

Vitamins A, D, E and K should not be taken at the same time as they are all fat soluble and will compete with any available fat for absorption. This supplement contains A, D and K.

It also contains iron and this should be taken 2 hours away from any other supplement as it affects their absorption.

So I'm afraid this one, even though it doesn't contain calcium or iodine, still comes under the category of their is no good multivitamin and comes under the category "supplements for the worried well".

“Vitamins A, D, E and K should not be taken at the same time as they are all fat soluble and will compete with any available fat for absorption.”

So why are we advised to take K2 with D3 if they can’t be taken together?

Ellie-Louise

Who has advised you to take them together?

Whenever I respond about D3 and K2 I explain that they are fat soluble and will compete for fat so if both are oil based supplements they will have their own fat so that is OK. If they not, eg one is soft gel and the other tablet or capsule, or both tablet or capsule, then they should be taken at different times of the day and if they are not oil based then they need to be taken with some dietary fat.

Any combined D3/K2 supplement should be checked to see if it is oil based, if not then don't use it.

I always had the impression from information here that they had to go together so that D is pointed in the right direction. My D is oil based capsule, my K is tablet.

SeasideSusie profile image
SeasideSusieRemembering in reply to Ellie-Louise

Yes, K2 is needed when taking D3 but as above. Nobody would have said they need to be taken at the same time.

All I said was that I had the impression, that’s probably my mistake then.
