No, not without doing an iron panel consisting of serum iron, transferrin saturation percentage, total iron binding capacity as well as ferritin. If serum iron and saturation are already at good levels then taking iron tablets will take them too high and could lead to toxicity. If they are low then iron ideally should be prescribed and GP should regularly monitor your levels.
