Hi all

Im having my blood taken at 9am to test my LH, FSH and Serum Oestradiol.

Is it okay to still take my thyroid meds in the morning or should I take them after my bloods?

Thanks :)

Thanks for that. I had my thyroid tested in Feb and they have the results. I always check with them when I have bloods that they do not take my thyroid. :)

Hi

I hope you don’t mind me saying, but, If your looking to get a diagnosis for peri menopause then testing your bloods for this will be a waste of time as they fluctuate so much.

I’m saying this as I have entered the peri menopause stage and my GP took bloods they came back “normal”.

However, because I was having loads of symptoms relating to peri menopause the nurse agreed to starting me on HRT, I was lucky as this particular nurse was also experiencing peri menopause too and could sympathise with me.

I also had a consultation with Newton clinic as a back up plan,. This is a peri menopause/ menopause clinic and I’m so glad I did.

The dose that the NHS nurse put me on was too low to start feeling better so it’s been upped, plus additional HRT has been supplied to me via the clinic.

Dr Louise Newson whole founded the clinic was on the TV programme “This morning” recently, holding a peri menopause/ menopause phone in.

She even said bloods are a waste of time, for peri menopause and they fluctuate so much, but, they listen to the patients symptoms.

Lots of people phoned in stating as bloods from GP had come back normal, they dismissed it and told them it must be something else wrong with them.

I know that often thyroid symptoms can also be peri menopause, but, I have experience in thyroid (through this forum) so I was able to tell the nurse they were definitely not thyroid related symptoms.

Best wishes

Hi

I saw Professor Isaac Manyonda who was on Louise Newson’s podcast. He has already said that he will put me in a trail on HRT in August even if my bloods come back normal. He also said bloods are not reliable.

I’m lucky my GP has agreed to do my bloods so that I don’t have to pay private for them :)

I wouldn't go to my GP as they don’t listen or understand. I asked months ago if I could be Peri menopausal and was told not to be silly!
