I am very sorry you are having hair loss and 'yes' it can be a symptom when hypothyroid but am not sure if it is due to the medication we take i.e. levothyroxine:-

I actually developed another auto-immune condition but unfortunately it has caused me to lose my hair every single year. It slowly grows and then drops out again - just in time for summer!

I hope yours is a once-only loss.

I'm just hoping its iron related as even with good thyroid results it was falling out but it was just a thought can Levo meds cause it as a side effect never ever felt well on this Levo I think I'll be heading off to get myself an expensive wig it this carries on

Sometimes when we have one autoimmune disease we can develop more. I think I have about five at present. One which bothers me most is alopecia areata when all hair falls out. It can slowly grow back but it's not what I want.

Mine grows a bit then falls out again but every wash once a week I dread it had lovely head of hair

Yes, Levothyroxine can and does cause hair loss. When I first began taking Levo I had a massive amount of hair loss but would gradually subside as time went on. However. with each increase the hair loss would return.

I would add I did not experience this with NDT nor T3.

Same here, no hair loss on NDT even when overmedicated yet massive hair loss when started levo and each time I try to raise the dose from my 50mcg. The more I raise the more it falls. Trying 60mcg now and seeing an increase in hair on my brush already. I was told it will pass but it freaks me out :)

Yes it can happen with levo or NDT or T3 because of the activation of autoimmune antibodies to a product which is very identical to the thyroid tissue our bodies have antibodies to.

Oh dear not good I'm hoping its iron but I feel it's not
