Advice on blood tests and vitamins please

Hello. I’m writing once more to ask your wonderful advice . I am finally, after many years of feeling very unwell, keeping better and it’s thanks to everyone on here.

These are my latest blood test results on 100mcg T4 and 10mcg T3. I’m 46 year old female and weigh 52.5kg. My doctor wanted to drop my t4 dose to 100weekdays and 75 at weekends. I managed to persuade him to leave it at 100 (for now)

The blood draw was as per the protocol on here. I’ve included the previous results from 6 months ago and 3 months ago where I have them.

I’ve been improving my vitamin levels and now need to work out a maintenance dose. I’ve been eating 100g liver twice a week. (I was eating 100 g once a week but increased it 6 months ago) Would 75g twice a week be more sensible now?

Also I increased my Vit d from 5000 per day to 6000 but I know it needs to higher as in 6 months the levels haven’t improved much. Would 10,000 per day be enough? I take all the co factors

I have been supplementing with b complex. I realise the result is above the reference range but I feel I have my muscles back! Is it ok to keep it at this number or does it need to be within the range? I have been taking 1 Thorne basic b capsule every day.

Many thanks for your advice.

T4 15.16 (12-22) previous 6 months 14.3 then 3 months ago 18

T3 6.36 (2.8-7.1) previous 6 months 5.97 then 3 months 5.08

TSH 0.06 (0.27-4.2) previous 6 months 0.01 then 3 months 0.11

Ferritin 81.39 (13-150) previous 6 months 52.48

B12 1002 (197-866) previous 6 months 536.9

Vit D 56.74 (31-100) previous 6 months 51.74

Folate 44.32 (>12.19 normal)previous 6 months 27.12

I should add the thyroid results from 6 months ago were 75/100 t4 alternate days and t3 10mcg. I managed to persuade the doctor to give me 100t4 as per advice from here.

Are you based in U.K. or elsewhere

noticed in previous posts Vitamin D is in ng/ml

Vitamin D is the result 56 Ng/ml

U.K. units are nmol,

40ng/ml = 100nml

Optimal vitamin D is 50 ng/ml (125 nmol/L)

grassrootshealth.net/blog/t...

Assuming your result is 56ng/ml you need to REDUCE vitamin D to a maintenance dose

Trial and error what dose that is …..suggest you try 2000iu or 3000iu retest in 2-3 months

Thank you for your help.I’m from the Uk but away for work at the moment so it is ng /ml.

Thank you so much for explaining that to me. I’ll drop the dose!

Hope you have a lovely evening.

Underlines why it’s so important to always add the units on test results

FT4: 15.16 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22)

Ft4 is only 31.60% through range

FT3: 6.36 pmol/l (Range 2.8 - 7.1)

Ft3 82.79% through range

You could try increasing levothyroxine by 12.5mcg

and reducing T3 by 5mcg or by 2.5mcg

What size tablets do you get for T3 …..depends how fine you can adjust dose

Your conversion appears very good now vitamin levels are much better

Thank you so much SlowDragon@. Your advice is very much appreciated. I have Thybon Henning T3 so 20mcg. I will try quartering them.

This is wonderful news!

Do you normally split as 2 x 5mcg dose

Hi. I take all my medication at 9pm. 3 hours after my evening meal. I’ve had a lot of problems with low stomach acid and this is the best way to take my medication.

Can I please ask you to help with the B12 and ferritin. Should I still take the b12 supplement? I don’t want the level to drop too much. Maybe a capsule every other day? And would eating 75gms of liver twice a week be better? Many thanks for your advice.

You probably only need vitamin B complex now

Your B12 result is high

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement and separate B12

Liver once a week may be enough…..see how your results are at next test

Thank you so much. I’ll eat less liver and take the Thorne basic b complex supplement once a day. Many thanks for all your help. I can’t believe how well I feel after years of misery and it’s because of this forum. Thank you so much again.
