Is it dangerous to TTC with a TSH of 0.24 and fT4 of 20?

Sorry, I have already posted this question, but I have ordered a medichecks test since and I won't get the results back before my next fertile window. I want to know if it is dangerous to TTC if I'm now overmedicated?

I've not tried to get pregnant again since I had a miscarriage in september as I was monitoring my blood results very carefully with 25mcg increases in my dose over the months as I was warned it was dangerous to TTC with a TSH above 2. Now my TSH is below range at 0.24. I had a miscarriage last time (TSH was around 10!) and don't want to risk the same happening. It was v.traumatic. Are the dangers the same as if my TSH was too high? There is no information for if you're over-medicated, only if you're hypo or hyper. A lot of the information also just says that you're more likely to miscarry if you have TPO antibodies, which I have. With the info stating that babies with birth defects can be common in hyperthyroid I'm now worried about being overmedicated.

Really don't want to wait to TTC any longer as I'm a geriatric in pregnancy terms. Would really like to try next week but obviously if it's a bad idea I will wait again. I'm sorry I don't have any results for T3 but my vitamins last checked were folate: >20 ug/L. B12: 408 ng/L. Vit D: 25 nmol/L. Fe: 40 ug/L. Please bear in mind these results were after not taking my prenatal supplement for a week as it contains biotin, so my actual levels might be better than this.

I'm taking 150mcg Levo and last results 1st thing in morning, before my dose and with no biotin sups for 1 week prior were: fT4: 20. TSH: 0.23

Vit D: 25 nmol/L. Fe: 40 ug/L

Do you really mean your vitamin D is only 25nmol?

Vitamin D should be around 75nmol minimum

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Similarly is ferritin really only 40 ug/l

Please add the range on ferritin

Oh god sorry, I was tired when I wrote this Vit D is 98 (it was 25 OH vit D, written below that I must have stolen the 25 from!)

Ferritin is really 40 but this blood test was just after menses, not sure if that makes a difference. Again I hadn’t been taking my prenatal supplement for a week before which contains iron again not sure if that would make a difference. I do try hard to have iron in the diet with Vit c but maybe I need to supplement more.

I’m currently taking a good quality prenatal supplement as well as B12 and vitamin A sublingual (had my genetic SNPs tested and have issues with both of those). Also a Vit D sublingual. And 5-htp with Mg for sleep.

Oh and range on ferritin 13.00-150.00ug/L

I suspected Vitamin D result was wrong

So keep working on improving low ferritin …..lots of red meat and other iron rich foods

Thyroid levels look good

You may need dose increase as soon as conception is confirmed…..

What's the range for that FT4? If it's 12-22, as it often is, then you are not over-medicated. A low TSH on its own does not mean you're over-medicated. so, if your FT4 is in range, then you're not. :)

Oh amazing news thank you. The reference range is actually 10.50 - 24.50pmol/L so it seems pretty good.

Hi, sorry to jump in on this post I hope no one minds, but I have a slightly similar concern.

My wife was diagnosed with AF in Jan 21 and subsequently Hypothyroidism, possible through taking Amiodarone in April 21

When this all started her thyroid test results were April T4 TSH 23.3, May T4 9 TSH 22, June T4 12.9 TSH 5.6, Now T4 17.2 TSH 0.22.

She has been taking 50mcg Levothyroxine from day one and been fine until end of January this year when she started going into AF after walking.

I was thinking given the change in her results she could be going from Hypo to Hyper.

What are you're thoughts?

Hi Bob1969 :)

Welcome to the forum .

it would be a better idea to start a new post of your own with your wife's history, other wise replies about one persons results get confused with those of the other. and we all get in a muddle.
