Please could someone PM me a reliable source of T3 I can get without prescription? I need lactose/dairy free.
I have been taking T4 for a year, and it’s worked wonders for my energy levels and cognition. However I’m still suffering low mood/depression, weight gain, hair loss, to name a few.
All my GP will offer is antidepressants.
I’ve slowly increased my T4 from 50mg to 125mg over the year, but my T3 levels never increase.
My T4 plummeted at the start of winter (is that usual? It’s very cold here) and I’m still recovering from a serious bout of depression and fatigue. (My T4 got increased from100 to 125mg since this happened)
75mg T4 (July)
Tsh 4.42
FT4 19.6
FT3 4.5
Ferritin 147 (44-150)
Folate 18.6 (9-30)
Vit D 154 (120-200)
B12 - negative for for pernicious anemia. ACTIVE b12 was 47 (range 37-150) supplement everyday since.
100mg (Sept)
Tsh 1.3 (0.1-4.2)
FT4 20.4 (12-22)
FT3 4.5 (3.1-6.8)
100 mg (dec)
Tsh 3.11
FT4 20.4
FT3 4.5
I’m now on 125 mg.
Thank you all for your help

It's not a good idea to take T3 unless you know you need it, and if you do then experienced members will be happy to guide you.
I’m sorry I don’t have the mental capacity to write out all my test results right now.
Nobody can help unless we see results and ranges for
TSH
FT4
FT3
because we need to know what your conversion of T4 to T3 is like and whether or not you are on enough Levo.
Also, before starting T3 you need optimal nutrient levels so please try and find the energy to include the following results/ranges as well as the above
Vit D - needs to be 100-150nmol/L as recommended by the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health
B12 - at least 550pg/ml for Total B12, top of range is better, or for Active B12 it should be over 100
Folate - at least half way through range
Ferritin - half way through range
6 months ago your folate was low and your B12 was so low you needed testing for B12 deficiency/pernicious anaemia. What has happened there? Your TSH was also 4.42 (0.27 - 4.2) so you needed an increase in your Levo, did you raise your dose?
Hi, thanks for your reply. I’ve added my test results to my original post. I was negative for pernicious anemia and supplement with a B vitamin complex daily, including B12 and folate. I also supplement with vitamin D and K2. Unfortunately I haven’t had those tested since I’ve been supplementing. Thanks again for taking the time to help.
So next step is to get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing dose see exactly what vitamin levels are and exactly what Ft4 and Ft3 levels are
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
Presumably you have lactose free levothyroxine
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
For your depression/low mood, I would recommend you take Thorne Basic B methylated multi B vitamins. Once I started taking the Methylated version my mood improved a lot.
