I have been having problems since early october of high T4 and T3, but thought it was an hashis flare. Finally got the results through of a TRab and it looks positive. Does this mean i now have Graves? I’m in tears at the moment. Can’t believe i could have another autoimmune disorder .

Yes, it is possible to have both Hashi & Graves antibodies and it is which is acting dominant that denotes your thyroid condition and requires medicating as such.
It is tricky because stimulating TSAb could be cancelling out blocking TBAb’s whilst meanwhile Hashi induced lymphocytes could be waging a war on the gland. Or TSAB’s can be elevated but not presenting as such when there is heavy Hashi damage, ie a fibrosed or atrophied gland.
This is why when symptoms don't match labs it is helpful to test all antibodies when deciphering results. I believe having both Hashi & Graves is actually more common than is known about with one condition lying silently behind the other and because once we have a diagnosis and with the health services' unwillingness to test antibodies further we may never know.
Thank you for replying. Just got my head around hashis and very upset to have graves antibodies

Unfortunately once we have one autoimmune disease we may become predisposed to others. It is this thinking that advocates for reducing thyroid antibodies and so bodily inflammation that may drive the immune system to further dysfunction.
Any thyroid condition is upsetting and having the two can be more than doubly tricky. I am sorry you have this news but there is great support on the forum and many with Graves disease 😊.
Looking at previous Medichecks results….you didn’t have raised TPO or TG antibodies……
Were TPO or TG antibodies high in past (can be raised due to Graves’ disease)
who gave you Hashimoto’s diagnosis originally?
Or have you had ultrasound scan of thyroid?
Tsh was 26. T4 8 when diagnosed
So does look like Hashimoto’s and Graves’ disease
Have you had coeliac blood test done
Or are you already on strictly gluten free diet?
Hi Slowdragon, I haven’t had a coeliac blood test. Am I likely to get it from a gp, or is it something that needs doing privately? I’m not gluten free , but avoid it casually ( i know thats not the deal), and i’m constantly eliminating different foods because of what i’ve thought was ibs. Self diagnosed. I live my life with an uncomfortable tummy, wind, griping, etc, but i’m of age where you just get on with it. Stupid i know.
You would probably need to eat high levels gluten for 6 weeks before doing coeliac test. Gluten at least twice day….bread, cakes, pastries etc
Only 5% Hashimoto’s patients test positive for coeliac
But a further 80% find strictly gluten free diet helps or is essential
Only you can decide if it’s worth taking test
Gluten free diet does need to be absolutely strictly gluten free to be effective. No wheat, rye or barley……read all labels
I have also done a yellow card report for my covid vaccines, has i have read ( found by googling) of reports of people developing Graves since being vaccinated. Please remove this comment if controversial ( i had my booster last week and have also read since that having untreated graves is a no go for vaccinations)
