I've got covid. Mild physical symptoms, but I think it's messing my T3 levels (I have hashi hypo and take T4/T3 combo). Covid started on Monday. Past 24 hours I have sunk into a shocking depression with uncontrollable tears, which is why I suspect T3 issues. Any advice?
(Last blood test was last month, with excellent FT3 and FT4. I've been really well with my thyroid for a while)

Covid seems to thrive in an acidic environment I have a melon and cucumber smoothie to treat my long covid I got the idea of melon and cucumber from the drink Aqualibra which was really popular in the 80s
COVID vaccine played havoc with my body's response to my thyroid replacement. From hypo I became alarmingly hyper, feeling as though my heart was going to jump out of my mouth! I had to reduce by 30%... Suspect I have to increase again now, waiting at last for test results..It's miserable.
I hope you feel better soon. Drink water like a fish too. It helps.
You are correct in that it clearly does something to energy as it zaps it. If you are trying to replenish it with T3 I am guessing the constant push and pull of energy in and out of cells causes fatigue. I have had multiple strange symptoms also after the vaccine, likely I feel I am catching some strain of the virus even a small amount and my body is trying to fight it off, but messes up my hormone in the process. I ended up in a and e twice after Astra Zeneca vaccine and they didn’t know what it was. I still get some mild breathlessness on and off, but then can just miraculously disappear. Yesterday was at the gym and like 90 percent ok. What I did find was my b12 was low as a result of energy zaps. So I topped that up slowly and that seems to have helped 20-30 percent for me. Coupled with eating a bit healthier and walking seems to have helped my hormone stabilise a bit more. Do what works for you.
I had Covid-19 symptoms at the start of last year, before much was known about it, & unfortunately still have Long Covid. 😞
I'm pretty certain that it's messed with my thyroid & that I really need a bit more T3 (I also take NDT alongside that).
Can you get another blood test to see if your levels have changed significantly to last month? It could be very useful that you have such recent results to compare it with.
I did also have problems with a particular batch of Mercury Pharma T3 this year (which I posted about on here). I had initially thought my symptoms were just Long Covid, but a change to different batch of T3 highlighted that it was the T3 batch that was the issue. No-one else on here had a problem with that batch, but my own theory is that if my need for T3 was slightly increased & that batch was ever so slightly weaker, I might be slightly under-medicated which would cumulatively lead to extreme hypo symptoms? Things got a lot better when Mercury Pharma got me a different batch. Have you changed to a different batch recently?
salmanc1 mentioned an increased need for B12 too - I missed a few days (by accident) and only realised how dreadfully depressed I'd been when I started it again and started smiling again! 😀 Might be worth trying some B12?
I note that some people have mentioned similar symptoms to actual Coronavirus as with the vax - that might be that they've had Covid in the past & not realised it? What I'm saying is that what people are suggesting re' their symptoms from the vax may actually be a help with Covid too - worth considering?
I'm not a medic - I'm just commenting from my own experience of Covid & Long Covid - it seems entirely sensible to me that my since my body is having to work extra hard to fight the Covid & deal with whatever the long-term issues of Long Covid are, that it needs more of many things, especially in this case, T3 & B12.
