I think I know where I’m going with this……maybe

So I’m going to show you two sets of bloods

July

TSH 3.32 (0.3-5.0)

FT4 11.3 (12-22)

FT3 4.2 (3.1-6.8)

Ferritin folate b12 we’re all low

Started 25mcg Levo and all recommended supplements. Felt well for 2 weeks then all tapered off.

Blood tests cancelled in September so I self medicated up to 50mcg. Within a few days felt well again. Spoke to GP and told her that I had increased. She was not my usual GP and when I started getting technical she said snootily “ are you medical”? I said no but I have joined Thyroid UK 😂. She then ordered bloods for this week 💪.

Two weeks leading up to the bloods I felt very unwell again ( you guys know al the symptoms)

Oct same ranges

TSH 3

FT4 13.3

FT3 3.9

So my thoughts are under medicated and FT3 LOWER! Which might explain why I felt so bad .🤷‍♀️

I’ve upped to 75mcg already and guess what 5 days in and I’m feeling good again ( not great but good)

So good infact I had the strength to write a long detailed letter to my GP advocating for myself, quoting a lot of guidelines and Dr Toft stuff. Ive asked for her support in getting my TSH to below 1 and FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of the range. We shall see 🤷‍♀️😁

She knows me very well and will realise I have been educating myself. She is a senior partner in the practice and does not get offended by my suggestions ( past experience)

Couldn’t have done this without you lot 😍( you know who you are) so give yourselves a pat on the back.

Any thoughts?

Sarah

Looking at your bloods I would say you need an increase in Levo. That will increase your FT4 and FT3 and move you towards a lower TSH. (Can you put ranges after your test results? They’re not all the same 🙃

The ranges were the same as the first test results I listed. I’ve just gone up to 75mcg and feeling good again but not anticipating it lasting. I realise I should eventually be taking 150mcgs ( I weigh 90kgs)

It is perfectly 'normal' to feel better for a while after an increase in dose, and then to find the symptoms creeping back in again. That is how it works. And, it just means that you are ready for your next increase in dose. Such a pity that doctors don't know that and warn their patients. And, of course, take note of it themselves, instead of just looking at the TSH!

Thanks. You are confirming my thoughts that I’m heading in the right direction.......yeah?

Well, if your TSH is dropping, and your Frees are rising - ignoring the occasional blip - then yes, you are going in the right direction. :)
