Just lately my nails have started flaking off again and growth is poor, they haven’t done that for years and were actually growing well for a very long time and needed filing often. I also feel tired earlier than I used to. Not to mention my hair which I started taking tablets for but left them off a week before my test.
I smashed my right knee against some hard furniture a few weeks ago too, the doctor sent me painkillers and ibuprofen cream but it doesn’t improve and the pain is too much sometimes. So I don’t know whether to wait longer or try to go and see him about it, but that’s probably nothing to do with anything, just a little moan.
So anyway these are my latest results, I take 75mcg Levo and had my test at 08:20 the morning it was taken at the surgery last week.

I take 75mcg Levo and had my test at 08:20 the morning it was taken at the surgery last week.
How long a gap did you leave between last Levo and the blood draw? Were you fasting?
Free T4 - At first glance your Free T4 looks reasonably good. Many people are happy with a result which is 66% of the way through the range. But some people need higher levels - say 75% - 80% of the way through the range or even a tad higher.
I don't know how others feel about it but I have got the impression recently that Free T4 and Free T3 reference ranges are dropping - and I wonder if this is to save money.
Free T3 - Your Free T3 is too low. I've seen members saying that they need a level of between 50% and 70% - but again some may need higher levels that that.
Ferritin - Your level of ferritin is very good. With the range you've given optimal would be approximately between 110 and 150. Whatever you're doing to get that level, keep doing it.
Folate - Your level is approx mid-range - optimal is upper half of the range which is between 11.5 and 20 with the range you've given. Whether you choose to raise your level is up to you, but don't go over the range.
Vitamin B12 - Your level is over 500 which is (in my untrained opinion) the minimum level for good health. Personally I keep mine at about 1000. SeasideSusie has some good sources on B12 levels. You could look in her replies to other members to see what she has posted on the subject :
Vitamin D - Your Vitamin D is optimal. Optimal levels are suggested to be 100 - 150 nmol/L
Since your vitamins are good I suggest that your main problem is levels of thyroid hormones being too low, and your conversion isn't bad - but it isn't good either.
In your shoes I would want to raise my Levo by 25mcg for 6 - 8 weeks, see how I feel, and re-test.
If your Free T4 was too high I would reduce Levo by 12.5mcg per day. If T3 was still too low I would be tempted to add some T3, at roughly 5mcg/6.25mcg per day, with a view to raising it to 10mcg/12.5 mcg per day, if necessary.
Thank you humanbean, you had the same thoughts as I did. I haven’t been doing anything extra regarding ferritin, I did have some pate a few times over the last few months but not regularly. I’ve been taking B12 but not the right type apparently, I read a post a while back mentioning which is the best and so I checked mine out, it is Solgar 500 ug cyanocobalin.
Edit: Sorry I forgot to answer your question.
Yes I did fast and only had water before the test, however I did make a boo boo and completely forgot about the only a 12 hour gap, so my gap was actually longer than that as I always take it at about 2am but didn't take it the night before.
Hi personally I don’t think that an extra 6 hours wouldn’t make much difference because of levos long half life. I also think that a raise is called for. Take care. Xx
