Hello - I am new here and at a loss and looking for help! Does anyone in the London area have an endocrinologist (private) that they would recommend who prescribes T3?
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism almost 20 years ago (at 28yo) living in America. My mother, aunt, and grandmother also have the disease. In America I was on 4 grains of armour thyroid. It has been 5 years here in the UK and I've only been given T4 - and it's not working. I've not been able to find a doctor or endo to prescribe T3. I've already been diagnosed - and brought my medical records with me - as not being able to convert T4 to T3. I finally convinced my NHS endo to prescribe me T3 - but she can only prescribe to the hospital pharmacy and they don't stock T3. My GP refuses to prescribe the T3 - even with the letter and information from the endo. I am now resigned to going private - but I am looking for an endocrinologist in the London area who is willing to look at my 20 years of medical history and appreciate that for 15 years I was doing well on armour, and 5 years of T4 only have been brutal.
