50mcg is a starting dose, with increments around every six weeks - usually after blood test. The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower, with Free T4 and Free T3 in the upper part of the ranges. (the latter two are rarely tested).
You have been on too low a dose for some time, as it is usual to have gradual increases until TSH is around 1 and both Frees in the upper part of the ranges.
Always get a print-out of your results, with the ranges. Post if you have a query.
Also check B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as deficiencies in these can also cause symptoms.
The is the recommendation when getting a blood test:-
Make the very earliest appointment.
It is a fasting test but you can drink water.
Don't take thyroid hormones until after the test.
This helps the TSH to be at its highest as that seems to be all doctors look at..
Well I did a blood test but didn’t fast for 24 hours as they told me to skip breakfast and not to take my medication. My bloodtest was at 8 am.
Next Tuesday I have to go to the Endo.
My results are :
Tireitropina reflex. 5.56. Mg/dl (0.27 - 4.70)
Tiroxina Libera (FT4). 1.29 (0.77. - 1.51)
I have also been very stressed out and have been feeling terribly anxious. I was off sick because of burnout.
Also I take a high dose supplement B-complex, primrose oil, sage, vitamin C with added vit D and echinacea. Would any of these vary my blood test results?
On Tuesday I had an appointment with my Endocrinologist and she asked me if I had been taking my medicine properly. I have been taking it but at different times in the morning ... I have been very stressed out this year. I got burnout and have been feeling very anxious and had severe panic attacks. I am slowly recovering.
I want to know if very bad stress and panic attacks can prevent your thyroid medication from working well. Can stress make the whole situation worse
