I take 800iu vitamin d only and I was advised to increase to twice a day but I don't think that will help me because I was on that before and it didn't work
That's because the don't know very much about vitamins. Hence why you've been left on 800iu when you're deficient. 🙄
I am bordering on out of my depth here so I'll tag SeasideSusie . She might pop along to give you more detail. Or maybe have a look at some of her posts about supplementing magnesium and K2.
There are various types of magnesium so best to pick one that suits your needs.
Was this a private or NSH test ? Is this recent test? With these results you should have had dose increase, usually 25mg per day & retest after 6 weeks.
ferritin 44 range 15 - 150 too low above 80
folate 4 range 2.5 - 19.5. Low
vitamin d 36 25 - 50 insufficiency supplementation is indicated, has GP prescribed loading dose. You will also need co factors Magnesium and K2
vitamin b12 I don't know. Ask for test.
tpo antibody 275 range <34. Positive for hashimotos known as autoimmune thyroiditis did you know this?
Have you ever tried gluten free diet?
Do you take replacement in morning on empty stomach?
Do you always test in same way? ie time of day & fasting except water, after taking dose or delay until after?
Your endo is an idiot - bet he's a diabetes specialist with only the vaguest notions of how the thyroid works! He certainly doesn't know how to interpret blood test results. The ranges are to wide and are only rough guides. A euthyroid FT4 would be at least 50% through that range. But, hypos usually need it higher.
That said, your FT4 is going to be lowish because you're taking T3. But, on T3, the TSH should be a hell of a lot lower. So, I'm wondering if you have absorption problems. Certainly, your low nutrients suggest you have.
You have Hashi's, and Hashi's people often do have absorption problems. They are often gluten-sensitive - or could even have Coeliac Disease. Have you been tested for that? Have your stomach acid levels been tested? Hypos often have low stomach acid which makes absorption difficult.
But, how do you take your hormone? Do you take it on an empty stomach, with water, leaving at least one hour before eating or drinking anything other than water? Do you take any other medication or supplements at the same time as your hormone?
