That's right, on the page where you order your test there is a tick box that says

Results only (without doctor's comments)

So if you ticked that box you won't get doctor's comments.

Medichecks have done an Active B12 test, your GP will have done a Total B12 test, they are different tests. You have been having B12 injections which have raised your level so you have a good level at the moment, it should also show as being higher than previously if your GP repeated the Total B12 test at the moment.

And its only my vitamin D thats low.

Vitamin D 33.7 nmol/L ( 50- 175)

Vit D is recommended to be 100-150nmol according to the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health.

Your GP may be willing to prescribe D3 until it reaches 50nmol/L but only likely to be 800iu or 1600iu.

To reach the recommended level you should supplement with 5000iu D3 daily, your GP won't prescribe that much so you could just buy it yourself.

Retest after 3 months.

Important cofactors needed when taking D3 are magnesium which helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form, and Vit K2-mk7 which directs the extra uptake of calcium from food to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissue where it can be deposited and cause problems. Your GP won't know about this and won't prescribe them.

Ferritin is fine.

I haven't commented on your thyroid results as you haven't said whether or not you are taking thyroid medication.

A normal healthy person would generally have a TSH no higher than 2, often around 1, so yours fits nicely into that range. Also their FT4 would be around mid-range-ish and yours is a little lower than that at 29%.

Unfortunately we are not tested routinely for baseline thyroid levels so none of us know what is normal for us as an individual.

Your antibodies are nice and low and don't suggest autoimmune thyroid disease.

Because your FT4 is quite low, it might be worth you repeating the test in, say, 3 months to check your levels, particularly to see if your FT4 goes any lower.

Remember to always do thyroid tests early morning, no later than 9am, with nothing to eat or drink except water before the test. Leave off a B Complex or Biotin supplement before any blood test because if Biotin is used in the testing procedure (which most labs do) then it can give false results.

Do you take a B Complex? When taking B12 in any form we need B Complex to balance all the B vitamins.

No i dont take anything...all i know is that they think it could be pernicious anemia but still havnt probably diagnosed me. I eat everything that has vitamins . With my vitamin d being low is it a deficiency or could just buy my own supplement?

The NHS classes Vit D deficiency as below 25nmol/L (it used to be below 30 until a couple of years ago but they moved the goal posts). You can buy your own supplements, you'll probably get a better quality one that way anyway. I have given information above of what you need to do.

Recommendations:

D3 - softgels are the most absorbable form, eg Doctor's Best D3 softgels. They contain extra virgin olive oil to aid absorption of the D3 and they are a good clean supplement with no nasties, just D3 and olive oil. Tablets are the least absorbable form.

K2-MK7 - I like Vitabay or Vegavero brands, they contain the best form of K2-mk7 which is the "all trans" form.

Magnesium you will have to see which form is most suitable for you:

D3 and K2 are fat soluble so need some dietary fat to be absorbed so maybe take with the fattiest meal of the day or a full fat yogurt or chunk of cheese. If you can take them at different times of the day that would be better then they won't compete for the fat for absorption.

Don't start all supplements at once, start with one, give it 2 weeks, if no adverse reaction then add on the second one, give it 2 weeks, if no adverse reaction add the next one, etc. This way if you do have a reaction then you will know what caused it.

I would suggest you start taking B Complex and good brands often recommended here are Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B.
