My symptoms seemed to get worse so I decided to do another set of bloods. I get the feeling it's a bit like watching a car crash in slow motion as I think I know where its heading but can't stop it.
My periods have been terrible over the last few months and I am either bleeding every 5 days or so or having 2 week bleeds and its very heavy - I have had an ultrasound of my womb and was told all is fine and was rather patronisingly informed that it has been a stressful year for most of us. I am quite sure that I am anemic as a result of all the bleeding so have an appointment on Tues to discuss that but not sure whether to mention my blood results as don't think they are clinically significant yet.

Folate is low, should be at least half way through range. What are you supplementing for this?
Ferritin is very low. Have you had an iron panel and full blood count to see if you have iron deficiency or anaemia?
Vit D still needs work. What are you taking? Are you also taking magnesium which helps the body convert D3 into it's usable form, and Vit K2-MK7 which directs the extra uptake of calcium from food to bones and teeth where it's needed and away from soft tissues and arteries where it can be deposited and cause problems.
I am currently taking Dlux vit d spray 2000u daily
1 Jarrow b-12 tablet
3000mg magnesium
600ug vit k mk7
Not taking any other medications other than oral contraceptive.
I have an appointment in Tues at GP to hopefully get an FBC done, if that is normal are there any recommendations to help with folate and ferritin levels?
Suggest you stop taking separate B12 and just start supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial. This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help maintain B12 levels too
Igennus Super B is good quality and cheap vitamin B complex. Contains folate. Full dose is two tablets per day. Many/most people may only need one tablet per day. Certainly only start on one per day (or even half tablet per day for first couple of weeks)
Or Thorne Basic B is another option that contain folate, but is large capsule
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
We usually recommend if B12 result is under 500 .......initially taking a B12 supplement as well as a B Complex (to balance all the B vitamins) initially for first 2-4 months, then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
This is interesting because I have noticed that many patients with Hashimoto’s disease and hypothyroidism, start to feel worse when their ferritin drops below 80 and usually there is hair loss when it drops below 50.
