Hiya! If there is anyone in the know on blood test result optimum levels, I'd appreciate your thoughts on my latest😊, thanks in advance!
NR=Normal Range
Free T3 5.5 pmol/L. NR: 2.9 - 4.9
Free T4 11.0 pmol/L. NR: 9.0 - 19.1
TSH. <0.01 mU/L. NR: 0.35 - 4.94To
To me, these look pretty good, as I needed to up my T3 slightly. My GP claims the results are 'satisfactory ' but with experience, one cannot wholly rely on that 😄. I self medicate with Thyroid S.
I don't take NDT but I believe the timing of medication before tests is relevant. How did you dose before your test? Hopefully someone who knows something about NDT will reply to your post soon.
At first glance you appear to be slightly overmedicated due to slightly elevated FT3, however, test and dose timings may reveal a different summary.
With NDT it's more about how you feel as this was how hypothyroidism was treated successfully for over 100 years prior to the blood tests, ranges and guidelines which were all introduced to be used alongside Big Pharma's launch into thyroid hormone replacement, T4 - Levothyroxine.
I am on the same NDT and it's my understanding that your TSH will be low/suppressed and your T4 much lower than when on Levothyroxine with your T3 level coming in much higher.
This is my experience and it's as though my T3 and T4 levels have now swopped places :
Obviously timing of blood draw and dose will reflect in results :
I tend to run with a slightly over range T3 but I'm not hyperthyroid and if anything still with a few hypo symptoms and know if I wait 24 hours between blood draw and medication my level of T3 falls back down into " this range " if that suits you and your doctor better ??
No thyroid hormone replacement works well unless core strength vitamins and minerals are maintained at optimal levels, and I supplement daily ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D and personally if this is where you feel at your best, so be it.
P.S. I'm with Graves Disease post RAI thyroid ablation in 2005 and now manage lingering Graves, thyroid eye disease and hypothyroidism and take 1 + 1/2 grains of NDT :
Many thanks for your reply. It was very helpful. My gp felt it was satisfactory. I am awaiting a new delivery of vitamins which won't arrive for a couple of weeks. I generally supplement with an iodine, gluten & soya free multivitamin, with extra selenium, zinc and iron to achieve recommended levels. I don't medicate from the afternoon on the day before my mid morning blood test. I also do not eat or drink anything but water.
