Hi I am taking 12mcg T3 and 87.5 of T4. The doctors comments say I’m over medicated but I know I’m not. If anything my hair is falling out. I take vit D, and magnesium. I also take an otc iron tablet as my ferritin was low. Any wisdom on whether to increase or decrease any of my meds. I always get the best B advice on here ☺️

You are only over-medicated when free T3 goes over-range, Your level is high in range but not over. Your doc may be getting confused with you having suppressed TSH - but that's just what happens when you take lio and so totally to be expected.I wouldn't increase meds as you are high in range; but if hair is falling out that's sometimes due to low B12 - have you had that checked? Do you have other nutrient results? Always best to get key nutrients good x

My b12 is ok last time I had it tested. Is my T3 high in range? I get confused with it all xx

Sorry Tinacros - mis-read it - so definitely not over-medicated!So having turned brain on more fully ... I would be inclined to increase meds - maybe levo up to 100 mcg as there's plenty of room in the free T4 range too, see how that goes, and if not enough add more lio too

Your free T3 is actually quite low in range and most people are happier with it over 5 with this range

Was this test done as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test and last 6mcg T3 roughly 8-12 hours before test?

Ft3 is low in range...but that result is very dependent on how long before test last dose T3 was

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?

Yes it was 24 hours before. I did test at 8am before any food or drink. I’m taking omega 3, magnesium citrate and iron. But I didn’t take any the day before my test. This T3 is the he highest it has ever been though. Do I need To up it slightly? X

So when was last dose of T3 before test?

Do you normally split dose into 2 x 6mcg ?

Yes I take 6mcg in the morning and 6 mcg in the afternoon. My last T3 was the morning before my test xx

So last T3 was 24 hours before test? That’s too long

Then Ft3 is falsely low

Last dose T3 should be MAXIMUM of 12 hours before test

So if testing at 8am .......last 6mcg dose T3 should be between 8pm and 10pm

When were vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels last tested

You’re not taking any vitamin D or B vitamins?

Ah ok. I’ve dropped a clanger there then. I’ll just keep my doses as they are. Yes I’m taking vitamin D and an otc iron supplement.. my levels were checked 6 months ago. I’ll check on the medichecks. My T3 is higher than it’s ever been so at least it’s risen since my last couple of tests x

So Ft3 is likely around 4.5 ...possibly higher

Remember next time to still take 2nd dose T3 and to move it later in day to around 8pm
