i am very confused now after my new blood result come back.

TSH -0,03 (0.25-5.00)

FT4 -19,7( 9.00-23.00)

FT3-4.2(3,5-6.5)

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies -1300 (<34)

2 month back on 75mcg

TSH -0,19 (0.25-5.00)

FT4 -16.1( 9.00-23.00)

FT3-3.2(3,5-6.5)

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies -575(<34)

i do not feel very well all this time on new dose as well. i have palpitations all the time and shortness of breath.

I do know what to do now..and my next appointment with Endo in 4 month time as my FT3 normal now..he had advised me to reduce the dose of Levothyroxne from 100 to 50 once a day for few days in the letter if i will have palpitations, sweating and shaking hands and then return to 100. but one day on 50 made me unwell and i have to stay in the bed all next day.. i have tried to reduce dose to 88 mcg but it did not make any difference plus i feel very tired all the time. Help, please!!!

I am gluten free and take supplements.{ D3,K2 , B12+ B com, C, A,E ,Selenium, omega3, zink, Iron spray, magnesium citrate.

Usual reduction is 25mcg at a time. Why were you advised to reduce ?

Tati0e0o i wouldn’t worry about your antibodies. As you have Hashimotos which is an autoimmune disease it will fluctuate up and down. Measuring antibodies only helps to determine the reason for your hypothyroidism, for me that was reassuring, going gluten free or being optimally treated does not necessarily ‘control’ your autoimmune condtion but being gluten free and optimally treated can reduce stress and discomfort and also vitamin and minerals uptake plus much more. GF is not needed for all but as it’s quite easy to be GF it is often recommended. Once you are stable you could if you like experiment by reintroducing gluten and note any changes.

So having said all that and possibly teaching you how to suck eggs, apologies 😬 I’m interested in your post because I too tried to make myself well by raising my FT4 with Levo. What I didn’t understand was that it was my FT3 that needed raising. It occasionally went below range but usually sat at 0% through range throughout my 10yrs of treatment.

Similarly to you when my FT4 was raised but my FT3 remained low as yours is/does I had similar side effects. The main symptoms being anxiet, jittery and feeling ‘wired’. I would reduce my Levo and I’d be left with exhaustion and depression/feeling low. I could never find my ‘sweet spot’.

What I and my medical professionals were missing was that I was a poor convertor and thi seems to be the case for you aswell.

Once I began taking T3 alongside my Levo I found the right balance. Increasing Levo for me never worked, it never sat right with me. Maybe it’s time to start looking at combined treatment. In the meantime I would reduce Levo but I would not be so drastic as 25/50mcg per day. I would look at your weekly intake which currently is 700mcg per week (100mcg per day). I would firstly reduce that by 50mcg per week. So 100mcg Mon - Sat and then Sunday I would spilt the tablet in half and take 50mcg. Continue for at least 2wks to note any changes. If you’re still feeling those unpleasant symptoms then reduce again by 50mcg. This would mean simply missing your Sunday dose.

You are unlikely to get T3 on NHS anytime soon and self sourcing/monitoring can feel overwhelming at first but it may be the direction you are forced to go in.

Thanks you very much for answering me..its very helpful to hear about your story. i feel exactly the same like you described it . Being anxiety, jittery and feeling ‘wired’ on 100 and exhausted when i reduce it even a little..I understand now that may FT3 need raising , but my Endo did not think the same unfortunate, so he increase my dose of Lavothyroxine to get my FT3 in the range. look like it is more important for doctors that our well being. he refusing to prescribe me T3 when i asked. so guess i need to find out how to get it . i don't know where i can get it . if you could help me please..would be very grateful.. i feel trapped..can not go on like this

I agree drop dose very carefully and do not keep going up and down. I tried 75mgs two days and then 100mgs then I continued until I started feeling overemotional and irritable and shaky and then I would drop to 75mgs. But do not drop as far as 50mgs. Try that.
