Hi all. What vitamin tests do you recommend for Hashimotos? Most of the at home tests I've seen only cover vitamin D, B12 and foliate. Do I need to test zinc, magnesium etc. Thanks

No point in testing magnesium because it will almost always look good, even if you're deficient, due to the way the body handles magnsium.

But, you do need ferritin. That's very important. :)

Thanks you Greygoose. So vitamin d, foliate and ferritin would be the main ones to test?

And B12. The Famous Four. :)

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 pluss tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

If/when on T3, make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins
