Hashimotos Blood tests

Please does anyone have a recommendation for a good place for regular full thyroid blood tests including antibodies. Hoping to test 3 times a year but my first tests were over £200 and it’s a bit steep 3 times a year. Also would like a company that emails results so can monitor and tracks results. Thank you. Tracey

Medichecks and Blue Horizon do the full thyroid panel including antibodies. Check out their offerings and discount codes from links here:

Medichecks thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

Blue Horizon thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

If you've had antibodies tested and they are positive, confirming autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimto's) then there's no point in retesting. If you've tested a few times before and they're always low then again probably not worth retesting. In this case Monitor My Health is cheapest for just TSH, FT4 and FT3 at just £26.10 for a fingerprick test:

All email you when results are ready. I print mine off, I also have a spreadsheet where I enter all results and make notes.

Is there any reason for Medichecks or Blue Horizon as opposed to Thriva? Genuine query.

Personal choice. Thriva require you to subscribe and commit to further tests regularly. Yes, you can opt out and some people are happy with that, I'm not. I also don't find their website very user friendly. I can't, in all honesty, recommend something I haven't used nor would ever use. I have used Medichecks, Blue Horizon and Monitor My Health and have no problem with any of them and am happy to recommend them.

Also, Thriva have a very confusing way of showing their results on the bar graph and give ridiculous ranges for "optimal", for example the "normal" range for FT4 is 12-22 yet Thriva show that 12-17 is "optimal". It can be very misleading for the patient.

I used thriva and they were fine, but I was taken aback by the latest subscription payment where YOU have to cancel if you dont want it and no option for a one off payment. I don’t think I’ll be using them again.

Many of us do full thyroid and vitamin testing once year via Medichecks or Blue horizon

Then any In between testing via Monitor My Health

Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning

Watch out for postal strikes
