I notice many of the functional medicine doctors use urine tests rather than blood tests. I there a difference in reliability? Thanks

Urine or blood tests for Hashimotos?
Ft4 and Ft3 are measures of thyroid hormones in the blood. I don't think you could gauge their levels from urine tests.
The standard hashis antibody test again measures antibodies which are found in the blood so I am guessing that a urine test won't do.
Maybe urine tests show different things , indicating what nutrients etc one may lack.
probably better to have both I would think

A blood test offers a snapshot look at what level your serum blood is in at that moment and is offered by GP's. There is thought that FT3 is too difficult to measure in blood serum due to the peaks and troughs.
Urine measures the amount over 24 hours and some think this offers a better incite to average output as thyroid gland activity varies over a day. Levels are usually seen higher. This test is not offered by GP's.
Most choose one test or the other and stick with it as proper comparisons can't be done if you swop about.
