Crp 4, no change (less than 1)

Esr 12, no change (1-12)

Ferritin 58, no change (10-300)

Folate 3.1, dropped from 4.9 (3.1-20)

b12 223, dropped from 345 (187-883)

Vit d 28.1, no change (50-220)

Tsh 2.19, increased from 1.91 (0.35-4.94)

Ft3 5.0, dropped from 6.0 (2.4-5.6)

Ft4 17, increased from 14 (9-20)

Parathyroid 4.6, no change (1.6-6.9)

Tpoab 15iu/ml, increased from 1 (less than 34)

No diagnosis, no treatment at present. Due endo appointment but keeps being pushed back due to current covid circumstances.

Have been taking b12 supplements for years.

Have been taking vit d and folate supplements for the last 2 months.

Ive just finished a course of 500mg x 4 a day of penicilin for neck swelling and sore throats which also havnt gone and ultrasound shown nothing previously.

Still experiencing digestive issues, ceoliac and IBD test negative.

Still experiencing anxiety, severe fatigue, insomnia, heart palpitations, weight gain, concentration issues, tremors, hair thinning, excessive sweating and heat/cold intolerance.

Ive cut out gluten, alcohol, caffeine and dairy to help and its helped my digestion a little but not frequency. On a mixed healthy diet constructed by a dietician and have followed it for 4 weeks now, no change to fatigue or weight.

Any ideas?? HELP lol.

Edit - fainted twice in last 2 weeks too followed by heat surge and excessive sweating.

Can see from previous posts you have been taking 3000iu vitamin D daily

Is that correct?

Is that a tablet or mouth spray?

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is often easier to absorb. You obviously need higher dose to increase your vitamin D levels

Are you also supplementing any magnesium?

Exactly What B vitamins are you supplementing?

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and can improve B12 levels too

You may still need separate B12 supplements....either sublingual B12 lozenges or B12 mouth spray

Folate v folic acid

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid.

thyroidpharmacist.com/artic...

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus Super B is good quality and cheap vitamin B complex. Contains folate. Full dose is two tablets per day. Many/most people may only need one tablet per day. Certainly only start on one per day (or even half tablet per day for first couple of weeks)

Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Thank you for responding. Yes that is correct, 3000iu per day vit D mouth spray containing k2 too.

B complex Nu U nutrition is what I take, it includes biotin and folate. Have taken it for years, perhaps I need to start looking at an additional B12 or look at an alternative.

Seem to be losing my rag, according to my GP my results are normal despite some being on cusp of ranges or below/over range. Driving me insane! Just want to feel better now.

Good idea to get a separate folate to take in the week you stop the vitamin B complex

Plus try adding a daily separate Sublingual B12 - eg Jarrow B12

amazon.co.uk/Jarrow-Methylc...

You could take 2 or 3 of these per day initially...then slowly reduce as levels improve

Vitamin D

Personally I needed 6000iu daily of vitamin D to increase levels, and maintenance dose of 3000iu .

You seem to need high levels too In order to raise levels. Looking to increase to at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better

Gluten intolerance often means we struggle to maintain good vitamin levels

Some people need much less and levels raise easily

Thank you so much for all these links, these are really useful. Ive had some light reading through them and appreciate your support as always.

I will look to drive up my Vit D levels over the next couple months and redo a vit check to see if its improved and try out some alternatives for B12 and Folate and then repost where Im at.

In regards to my thyroid levels could that contribute to some of my anxiety issues etc, or is it likely to be the vitamins?

Have you ever had TG antibodies tested?

NHS won’t test TG antibodies if TPO are negative

A significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies

Eg

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Necessary to test privately

Or ever had ultrasound scan of thyroid?

20% of Hashimoto's patients never have raised antibodies

Gluten free diet does need to be absolutely strictly gluten free to be effective

Avoiding cross contamination.

Lawzef90 in reply toSlowDragon

So I avoid gluten in bread, pasta and rice and buy gluten free products.

My ultrasound was done a couple of months ago and I was told no nodules etc. I did ask for a copy of the results but havent been provided them still, was just advised it was normal. I have had swelling in the neck on and off over about 4 years. Will dig out a photo.

My Tpo ab was 15, the range is apparently less than 34 but I have read optimal levels are less than 9, so this confuses me.

My Tg was only 13, the range for this was less than 115.

No gluten in rice. Beware of barley as well as wheat.

Ive added the pic of my neck to the original message in post, it has been worse than this, please ignore the glass, really struggling to find photos.

The product description for the nu u. says it contains folic acid, ( NOT folate.) It also has Cynocolbalamin as b12. If you have an mthfr problem then you will need methylcobalamin for b12.

I’ve just started following a Facebook page called called vitamin D and co factors. If you take vitamin D3 you need to take magnesium and vitamin K2 mk7 and also Boron. This page is very interesting and gives a lot of good advice. Your body will deplete your magnesium when taking vitamin D3 (and a lot of people are deficient to start with) So you need to balance things out with other supplements to prevent this and also to help your body absorb the the vitamin D3. It might be worth you checking this out? I’m only just starting out and an still learning but a lot of people have had amazing results following the guidelines regarding taking Vitamin D3 with these other supplements. Good luck. Sorry I can’t help with all the points you have raised in your post, but there are some very knowledgeable people in here who I’m sure will be able to help you 😊

Thank you! I will check this page out. :)

I’ve been taking high dose vitamin D3 and I’ve been doing it all wrong! It can also raise calcium levels and this can cause problems too if you don’t supplement with the magnesium. Magnesium deficiency can cause anxiety etc and also heart palpitations. It’s like fine-tuning an engine isn’t it lol! I’m learning something everyday and can’t wait to try this protocol as the low mood and anxiety have been crippling just lately. I can really relate to all the symptoms of magnesium deficiency but have learned I need the other supplements to balance out. Good luck 😊

Update: GP has advised I increase all vitamin supplements for 1 month and retest. Take anti inflammatory for my neck and throat. Agree symptoms and family history point to thyroid issues.

Endo appointment is rescheduled for 27th so will give output from this then.

Hi Lawzef90,

What a nightmare, it sounds exhausting and so frustrating, but there are lots of experts on here who can hopefully help you. I'm definitely not an expert (!), but it's possible that you may find hyperparathyroiduk.com/ helpful- also please do check out the facebook group where we also have access to medical/surgical specialists for advice and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Good luck and hang on in there, it's crazy that just when you're really not well enough to push for help that's what you have to do. Take care of yourself
