Taking mineral supplements.

Any advice on taking supplements please have seen a super minerals supplement from Holland and Barrett which gives all needed minerals including magnesium and selenium which I believe you need to help your thyroid to function optimally. Also should I buy a vitamin B12 supplement as doctor has prescribed 50mcg oral B12 which I think is so low it'll be completely useless.

Can you add a link to the actual supplement ingredients list

But generally never recommended on here to take a mixed supplement. They usually are too small in dose/cheap ingredients/contain stuff you don’t want like copper or iodine

Do you mean this one

hollandandbarrett.com/shop/...

If so, don't.

It contains things we shouldn't take unless tested first and only supplemented if found to be deficient, i.e.

Calcium

Iodine

Iron

Also the iron will affect the absorption of everything else, iron needs to be taken 2 hours away from any other supplement (and medication).

Also, it would be a good idea to test zinc before supplementing, and because zinc and copper should be balanced, testing copper would be a good idea too.

What is your B12 level - result plus range.

I have no idea they've just told me that my levels are fine so need to get them to send the results from last few years and don't know the range their using or what they consider "fine". Really sorry if I'm repeating myself my memory is terrible at the moment.

Not sure how we can help suggest how much B12 you should take without seeing a result. Whatever dose you take, when taking B12 we also need a good, bioavailable B Complex as well to balance all the B vitamins.

Sorry ,I'm finding it really hard to retain information and remember things, what dosage would be safe and effective.

This is the reason why I believe I may be B12D.

Click onto your username and you can then see your previous post. Not just your B12 but your low T3 will cause brain fog. The brain has more receptors for T3 than any part of the body . . So if your level is low then there is not enough to feed all the cells in your body ... it's like driving from London to Bristol with a gallon of petrol - you run out 🤔
