Hi everyone.

I used Medi checks this time, i knew due to current covid situation i wouldn't get to surgery for thyroid check, tsh only isn't helpful anyway and that's all they're gonna offer.

I see the T4 & T3 numbers are lower now even though i got an increase in Levo (125mcg) January this year. I don't understand what that means, i do know i feel dreadful though and the "fog" is pretty thick at the minute, i had hoped for a miracle πŸ˜‚.

Tsh. 1.6. ( 0.27 - 4.2 ). Previously 3.29. jan 2020

FT3. 4.42. ( 3.1 - 6.8 ) previously 5.3 ( 3.1 -6.8 ) jan 2020

FT4. 14.6. ( 12 - 22 ). Previously. 15.6. ( 12 - 22 ) jan 2020

On a positive note, my TPOab has reduced to 13.6 from 23.6 <34

Also TgAB down to 64.3 from 91. <115

My Vit D has slightly increased to 66.1 (50 - 175 ) previously 44 will keep on with 5,000 iu as i had hoped this might be higher now - i still have loads of low vit symptoms :(

B12 150 (37.5. - 187.5 ) previously 160 jan 2020. ( 179 in Dec 2018)

This is going down

Ferritin 119 ( 13 - 150 ) previously 100 jan 2020 , ( 93 in Dec 2018)

This is going up, can anyone say why ?

Folate could not be obtained this time,

Hope everyone is home, safe and free from the virus xxx

Seems you need another increase. In levo at Vit D.

Which form of D3 are you taking? Softgels, tablets, capsules, oral spray? And you're regularly taking magnesium (and K2)?

Active B12 is still very good.

Ferritin 119 ( 13 - 150 ) previously 100 jan 2020 , ( 93 in Dec 2018)

Did you eat any iron rich food in the 7 days before the test? Liver, liver pate, black pudding, maybe red meat a day or two before?

Tsh. 1.6. ( 0.27 - 4.2 ). Previously 3.29. jan 2020

FT3. 4.42. ( 3.1 - 6.8 ) previously 5.3 ( 3.1 -6.8 ) jan 2020

FT4. 14.6. ( 12 - 22 ). Previously. 15.6. ( 12 - 22 ) jan 2020

Were both tests done under exactly the same conditions? No later than 9am, nothing to eat or drink except water before the test, last dose of Levo 24 hours before test?

Are they sending you a new test for the folate free of charge?

Hi SeasideSusie

I'm hoping they send a free folate test. But don't expect an answer until Monday.

Yeah, the test is done as you say so that i get a standardised result each time.

I don't really eat much red meat, it's mostly chicken we eat. Don't like liver or pate either.

I have D3 tablets from doctor, but they only allow me 2,000iu per day. I bought the oral spray and used that until it ran out. I also have D3 gels but running out of those too. Went to order some more and couldn't get any. It seems people heard D3 was good for coronavirus protection ! Have sourced a new lot from elsewhere H & B but better than nothing. I also take the magnesium & K2 along with selenium & zinc.

Are you on strictly gluten free diet...this can help improve brain fog....not a quick fix...more long slow improvements

Yeah, really strict with myself & lactose free too. I learned early on gluten was affecting me quite badly :(

Lactose intolerance frequently means need higher dose of levothyroxine that guidelines suggest

NICE guidelines on dose by weight

nice.org.uk/guidance/ng145/...

1.3.6

Consider starting levothyroxine at a dosage of 1.6 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day (rounded to the nearest 25 micrograms) for adults under 65 with primary hypothyroidism and no history of cardiovascular disease.

BMJ also clear on dose required

bmj.com/content/368/bmj.m41

Lactose intolerance is very common with Hashimoto's

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/240...

Lactose intolerance was diagnosed in 75.9 % of the patients with HT

read.qxmd.com/read/24796930...

These findings show that lactose intolerance significantly increased the need for oral T4 in hypothyroid patients.

You may find lactose intolerance improves on strictly gluten free diet

Thank you, will look into that when doctors open up properly again. Can't see them helping me right now :(

Thank you Jonathon1956

Will look online for that book. I'm still very much learning about this. I stupidly believed the establishment as i was so confused each time i went for a check up. I'm learning though & keeping notes on myself and all these horrible symptoms that keep on appearing. Sometimes though i read something and get more confused than i originally was πŸ˜‚ it's annoying i've gone from being top of the class to bottom, i need to kick back & put myself right.

Totally agree with you, as an ex nhs worker, the treatment i have been subject to is no where near what i was trained to deliver 30 years ago. I was proud to say i worked for them back then. I have nursed from home several sick members of my family & have found myself instructing Gp's on correct terminal care. It's really no surprise now i have no real help. But Thyroid was never my speciality and the lack of brain function i now have proper hinders my progress.

Just found some info of Paul Robinsons on internet. Gonna try and read & retain some of it πŸ˜‚
