Medichecks results, any advice please?

Hi all. I did a Medichecks ultravit test but I messed up on one sample so only given thyroid and B12 results (below).

They sent me a replacement but my fingers are refusing to bleed :( so can't get the vit test done yet.

I would really appreciate any advice on what my results show so far though. I am not on any medication just taking a Jarrow methyl B12 and folate supplement. Many thanks. j x

All one can really say is that you have Hashi's, and are likely coming out of a 'hyper' phase. Your B12 is good. Are you taking a B complex with it?

Thank you greygoose. Yes I take Igennus Super B Complex also. I just cannot understand why I am hypo if to me "normal" is very active and lots of energy and motivation. I think I must be so confused as I hate the way I feel now and have no idea how to regain how I used to be. Very kind of you to respond and much appreciated. j x

As I said, you have Hashi's, and that means your levels can rise and fall quite frequently. One test is not representative of your over-all thyroid status. Another test, in a few weeks time, could reveal high TSH and low thyroid hormones.

Hashi's has false 'hyper' phases, as after an attack, the dying cells dump their stock of hormone into the blood. But, your normal thyroid status would be hypo. It's just a matter of doing the testing at the right time, but there's very little indication of when the right time is. Doctors just do not understand this.

I agree with Greygoose about Hashi's and a hyper phase.

As far as your Active B12 test is concerned, that is an excellent result and because our B12 store is good for at least 2 years I would suggest that you could ditch the methylcobalamin supplement because you no longer need to boost your level, just take a good B Complex which will maintain your level and keep all B vitamins in balance and give you methylfolate also. Consider Thorne Basic B or Igennus Super B.

Thanks for your advice SeasideSusie. I will lay off the B12 and just continue with the Igennus B Complex in future.

I just cannot understand why GP's (and a year ago Endo) tell me I am hyper and prescribe Carbimazole (which I don't take). I used to be full of energy but for months now frankly I could stay in bed all day. So tired out, no enthusiasm for anything at all, cannot regain the 14 kgs of weight I lost - if I was hyper before I want to go back there as then I felt normal :(.

Much appreciate your response, but no idea how to feel well and live a normal life again. j x

Maybe there will be some clues in results of the other tests - Ferritin, Vit D and Folate - when you've managed to do them.

Yes maybe there will be something relevant. Thank you very much for your response. j x

In regard to fingers refusing to bleed, you could try from your ear lobe... probably need assistance. Hubby’s hands/fingers are so tough we do the ear lobe route and have good success and comparable results to venous bloods taken.

Well that's a tip worth trying, thank you :) Can't understand why, if I catch my finger on a thorn I seem to drip blood everywhere yet getting one drop is difficult when I need it for a test.
