Next blood tests.

Received a letter & blood forms from the drs asking me go for my blood monitoring tests which is great. As I had them done with the endo in October. Also my Vit D

The request on the form is for Thyroid Function Test (TFT3)

1x Serum Gel 5ml (Gold)

I questioned that there no ferritin or folate requested. I was informed by the practice nurse that they were done in July 2018 & they were fine.

I have asked for a print out of them.

I shall go for the tests without my Levo & Lio medication.

My question is is this right not to have ferritin & folate tested at the same time.

Don't forget that to get the most accurate results then last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before blood draw and last dose of liothyronine should be 8-12 hours before blood draw. Don't leave any longer as you'll get false low results, don't take any closer or you'll get false high results.

My question is is this right not to have ferritin & folate tested at the same time.

My surgery never tests these routinely, either alongside thyroid tests or otherwise. (Mind you, I'm in Wales and we don't get regular health MOTs once we reach a certain age like my brother in England does.)

Folate should be tested with B12 as they work together.

At my surgery there has to be a particular reason for these to be tested, i.e. you go with a problem and I presume if your symptoms suggest there may be a problem with these levels then they may test them.

My surgery has never tested Vit D either, I discovered myself that I had severe deficiency with a private test bundle from Blue Horizon, it was quite a shock.
