Could you please help me?

Hi, everybody. How bad are these numbers?

TSH 6.97 (0.4-4.5),

T3 Total 64 (76-181)and

T4 free 0.9. (0.8-1.8)

Magnesium 2.2 (1.5-2.5)

My doctor increased Levo from 100 to 112. I don't feel any better since that change two months ago. I used to have low TSH until the same doctor changed me to Tirosint which did not work for me.

My weight keeps increasing, constipation is stubborn and I am cold all the time.

Thank you for any input

Are those results since being on the increased amount of 112mcg Levo?

I think you can see for yourself that your results are bad. Your TSH is over range, your FT4 has just scraped into range. Total T3 is not a useful test, you need Free T3, but it's below range anyway.

The aim of a treated hypo patient generally is for TSH to be 1 or below or wherever it needs to be for FT4 and FT3 to be in the upper part of their reference ranges, if that is where you feel well.

Are you still taking Tirosint? If so ask to be put back on the previous brand you did well on.

What dose of the previous brand you were taking that gave you a low TSH and did you feel well then?

Thanks. I was in levo 112 when they changed me to 100 a year ago. Since then, the nightmare started. The doctor made a bad joke about three extra pounds I had so I decided not to see him until losing them. That never happened and now I have more than 16 and changed doctor. I am going to an endocrinologist but he does not even see you. He seems to be glued to his computer. Those results were after tirosint 100 and now I am in Levo 112. The doctor did not want to prescribe 125.

That is all

Thank you again

Doctor isn't being very helpful (and I'm being extremely polite there!). With an over range TSH and such a low FT4 then 12mcg increase is peanuts. You should have had 25mcg and retested 6-8 weeks later. If you've been on 112mcg Levo for 6-8 weeks, get retested now, I expect you may need another increase.

I have tried to make him change the prescription and nothing has happened. Looking for another doctor but I have not been lucky. No appointments available. For this one, I waited more than 6 months. I have learned to ask if they see thyroid patients or not.

Thank you for your reply.

Pretty bad, but you don't have a free t3 results, which is the most important. On levo, the aim is for TSH to be under 1 and free t4 to be in the top quarter of the range
