Hi bantam12 thanks. The only result she gave me was that I have hashimoto and graves. She also said that the medication for the thyroid got my TSH low which is good and for me to continue to take my thyroid medicine which is Methimazole 10 mg twice a day to bring it up to normal. I don't have the results but I did get my TSH level when I went to the hospital which was low. I'll look it up and be right back. Thank you.

Thanks for information. Hard to get a specialist as it took a month since I was seen at the hospital for heart beat up to 178 and was told what the cause was. I was told it was Hashimoto and referred to a Specialist, took almost a month to see her. What can I do since my next visit is in two weeks. Thanks so much for advise.

My free 4 was 99 by reading my results on my hospital visit 4 days ago on lab results.

But why does she want me to wait and see if it goes back up to normal? I've heard from my friend that when it was found that she had Hashimoto because of a racing heart she took a radiation pill and is doing fine. And my cousin was found to have graves disease and they also gave her a radiation pill and has to take thyroid pill for the rest of her life, why doesn't the doctor tell me as well? Just asking...thank you so much.

Sarajuarez,

It is often possible to re-regulate the thyroid gland 9-18 months after taking Methimazole. Unfortunately, having Graves Disease means that there is less than 50% chance that remission will be permanent but most people think it worth trying for remission rather than ablating their thyroid gland which causes hypothyroidism.

Thanks so much, just been getting low blood pressure earlier in the day, and the doctor had told me I didn't need to take bystolic for heart, just a little bit in case I have breathing problems from the thyroid medication Methimazole. Is it safe to stop taking the heart pill with my level real low ? Again thanks so much. Can't sleep.

Sarajuarez2912,

Many hyperthyroid patients are prescribed beta blockers to calm their heart rate until Methimazole reduces high T4 levels. Beta blockers may also be prescribed for high blood pressure so if your bp is low it is a good idea to reduce dose or stop taking it. Beta blockers can be used on an 'as required' basis if your heart rate feels too fast.

Yes I believe the beta blocker is the cause to me having low blood pressure. I've noticed my heart rate goes up to 110 then slowly goes back down to normal, I kinda panic and have my phone on hand to call 911. Its something alright with this...thank you...I'm glad to know their is a page for this on line.

Sarajuarez2912,

I've no idea what carantine is. Try Google :)

Thanks so much. So that could mean that hashimoto makes two hypo and hyper? And Graves only makes hyper ? Doctor said I had both hashimoto and graves, hmm

What is A&E? And yes I feel like that is what happens to me...right now in in the emergency hospital, my heart rate went up to 130 then here it went up to 150, they called my doctor so they can have me here for observation on my condition and she has not called or responded to my voicemail. They called and left message to her 4 times..can't stay.
