Not losing weight on T3

Hi

I have an underactive thyroid. I was diagnosed in 2015. In 2017 I was told by the GP I have hashimotos, they failed to inform me for 2 years.

Anyway I was prescribed Levo but had shocking side affects. Itching all night, swollen ankles, more weight gain etc

I took matters in to my own hands & ordered ndt (thyrogold). I went from 14 stones to 11 just like that. No exercising..

A few months later I became hypo again. I suspected reverse T3 but did not test it.

A few months later I incorporated T3 in to the mix with ndt. I didn’t notice much differrence so went T3 only as I have always had low iron & possibly high cortisol. I did an adrenal stress profile in 2017 with elevated levels of cortisol throughout the day. This was before I switched to ndt.

Being on T3 only has been a rollercoaster ride. Last year Oct 2018 I managed to get to my lowest weight in the last 10 years. Then my cytomel ran out & it was not being manufactured so I had to switch brands which caused me to gain weight again. I’ve gone from tyrotex to Tiromel but my weight is a massive issue.

Im wanting to do an adrenal stress profile again. I tried in April but the lab rejected it as I had blood in my sample (the dentist says I have mild gingivitis).

My question is why does my weight fluctuate so much ? I lose it to then put it on again & secondly please could anyone advise me on what exercise I can/should do?

I have a gym membership & have been going quite regularly. I don’t lose a single pound. I’m scared my body is pumping more cortisol but I do lose a few inches & look slimmer.

I enjoy doing the cross trainer, rower & trwafsmill on a high incline but don’t want to make things worse as I’ve only recently started reading about how exercise can make things worse.

Lastly how do I shift some weight ? I reduced my carb intake massively about 2 years ago. I do have a sweet tooth but it’s no where near as bad as it was a few years ago.

I currently take 75mcg Tiromel

B12 methylcobalamin 5000 micro grams

Vit D liquid 125mcg (5000 IU)

Iron tablets high strength 27mg by bluebonnet

Thanks in advance

Sorry I cannot help you, but I too was on 75 mcg T3 only (Tiromel) without improvements to pain, exhaustion, weakness, weight etc ( I do have other health problems beside hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s- fibromyalgia and insulin dependent diabetes). But on this dose noticed my blood sugar had obviously risen, so now added levo. back and reduced T3...don’t know whether this T3 makes a difference to trying to shift weight.

I'm so sorry your having issues with sorting out your thyroid meds . You might want to check out if you have any * Leaky Gut* issues . There is a connection between the Gut and adrenals thyroid .
