Before you even consider anything quite so drastic - and potentially dangerous - it would be a good idea to get her full thyroid testing - including FT3 - to make sure she is adequately replaced. If her T3 is low, there's not much chance of her losing weight whatever she takes.
Also, are you certain that her weight-gain is fat and not water-retention? It's usually water-retention when you're hypo, and there is no medication that can get rid of that.
Sadly the doctors do run full panels I have to source that myself. They keep telling me my levels are fine but have been on levo for over 2 years and still keep gaining.
I have two other slipped discs in my back which my surgeon for that keeps telling me to lose weight.
I’ve tried every diet going including gluten free / dairy free to no avail!
So, you were seriously under-medicated at that point. How much levo were you taking? How much are you taking now? I really think you ought to get another private test done, if you can.
A euthyroid FT3 - i.e. in someone with no thyroid problems - would be around 50% through the range. But hypoq usually need it more like 70%. So, yes, it should be higher.
And, if you're taking 200 mcg levo and still have hypo symptoms, then my guess is that you're a poor converter and your FT3 is still too low, and that's why you can't lose weight. And taking weight-loss drugs is not going to help that.
If you want to know a medicine source, please write a separate post asking for this information.
If needed, we can then close your question to replies meaning that no-one will inadvertently reply on forum - which is not allowed.
Asking on an existing post is likely to distract from the original poster’s questions/issues - even if it is your own post. This also means that any replies will divert from the original post. And could lead to the post being close to replies - or replies being deleted.Neither is satisfactory.
If you wish to ask an individual, whether the original poster or someone who has replied, then consider asking by Private Message (Chat).
I’m from the UK but I get in from juniper so you get support too. Which is tried the docs first but they probably would’ve said no. Been on it since Jan and lost just over 3 stone already.

Hi. In Ireland so not sure how helpful will be. Diagnosed with Graves 2 years ago. Only tested every 2 months since. Go between hyper and hypo depending on dose.
Have put on 2 stone.
Went on weight loss drug 2 months ago. Unfortunately didn't work for me. Not a single pound lost. In fact nothing I do, eat or don't is changing my weight.
Been told by herbalist I won't until metabolism is balanced. Which it isn't yet.
