I posted my son’s medicheck blood results a few weeks ago and was advised to get a further couple of tests done which we now have results for.
Original blood results as follows Ferritin 87.3 (30-400)
Folate 6.16 (>3.89)
Vit B12 99.9 (37.5-188)
TSH 3.94 (0.27-4.2)
Free T3 5.05 (3.1-6.8)
Free Thyroxine 11.9 (12-22)
Thyroglobulin antibodies 10.8 (<115)
Thyroid peroxidase antibodies <9 (<34)
Results of added tests this week
Testosterone 9.51 mmols (8.64 - 29)
Vitamin D 70.3 nmols/L ( no range but comments as adequate)
Re the testosterone the medicheck doctor mentions that it is bottom of range and that low vit D and excess alcohol can effect, due to medication and other issues very rarely drinks, and if does is at home with us. Think last drink might have been Xmas and only a bottle of beer. Blood was taken early morning and note the doctor mentions it increases during the day. Has been taking vitamin d supplement for past few months as aware helps with depression. The medicheck doctor suggests repeating in few months and if still low then to obtain supplements.
He recently collected copy of blood results from last few years from surgery and note that last TFT in June 2016 TSH 3.22 (0.27-4.20), Free T4 16.8 (12-22).
It was suggested on the forum that we look to seeing a private endocrinologist when I posted his first set of medicheck results. Please can anyone suggest one they have found helpful. We are in East Anglia and happy to travel to London or Birmingham if worth the journey.
Thank you to both who made the helpful suggestions on previous post. We wouldn’t have considered the additional checks without your input and knowledge.
Regards
Sarah

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast
Recommended brands on here are Igennus Super B complex. (Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks ).
Or Jarrow B-right is popular choice, but is large capsule
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
He hasn’t checked cholesterol but will make sure it’s added next time he has bloods.
He’s taking 1000iu vitamin D and looking at what’s left think probably taking for about 6 weeks prior to test.
I’ll look further into his antidepressant (venlafaxine) and thyroid as it is mentioned in article you posted link to. He will be very reluctant to make any changes to this medication as has helped beyond measure in his mental well-being. However if we can get on top of other problems he may find he can wean his dose accordingly. The TFT from June 2016 was 6 months prior to starting this medication.
The testosterone level concerns him most so he is keen to get the appropriate information and treatment.
