How do you feel?

Taking 3 vit D a day

What is the actual total dose of Vit D you are taking daily?

Are you taking D3's important cofactors - magnesium and Vit K2-MK7?

Desunin 800IU COLECALCIFEROL VITAMIN D3

So I need to up my vit 3 again? Currently on 2400IU?

Start taking magnesium and the Vit K2-MK7 all together?

Owleyes

So your Vit D level now (76) is lower than last time (83).

Is your Desunnin Vit D prescribed?

Do you take it with the fattiest meal of the day?

Are you not already taking magnesium? You were asking about it in a post a few months ago.

Are you not already taking Vit K2-MK7?

In this post I gave you all the information you needed about supplementing with Vit D, including the fact that as you have Hashimoto's then for best absorption you should use an oral spray:

I was on the spray that was advised. But Vit D was still low that’s why I went back on the tablets from the Dr. And it’s still going lower on 3 tablets. So I shall have to go back on the spray and see it it improves on that.

Yes take the ALTA MAGNESIUM CHOLRIDE 1 tablet.

I’ll get the Vit K2-MK7 Is there an optimum time I should take the two new ones?

Levo morning 100

b complex 2 tablets mid morning from igennus

vit d selenium from Cytoplan

magnesium bedtime

I was on the spray that was advised. But Vit D was still low

Were you taking the correct number of sprays to give the total amount of D3 needed? Their Dlux 3000 is 1 x spray to give 3000iu. Their DLux 1000 is 1 x spray to give 1000iu.

One member found a liquid D3 gave him much better results than anything else. He used this one which is 4000iu per 2 drops

amazon.co.uk/Natures-Answer...

I use this one which is 1000iu per 1 drop and use the appropriate amount of drops

amazon.co.uk/Vitamin-D3-Liq...

They can be taken sublingually for better absorption than tablets.

I’ll get the Vit K2-MK7 Is there an optimum time I should take the two new ones?

Vit K2 is fat soluble so must be taken with some dietary fat, or use an oil based one. I use the Vitabay Organics (same make as the D3 I take) so it's oil based drops like the D3

Yes 2 sprays in cheek

Will get the ones you have advised.

When do you take your vitabay?

SeasideSusie profile image
SeasideSusieRemembering in reply toOwleyes

When do you take your vitabay?

Whenever I think about it (quite often at lunchtime), it's oil based and I take it sublingually so it doesn't matter when it's taken. Some people find that taking D3 in the evening affects their sleep, it's made no difference to my sleep if I take mine in the evening.

Ok that’s that sorted. Thank you 😊

When should I retest my Vit D?

SeasideSusie profile image
SeasideSusieRemembering in reply toOwleyes

I would retest in 3 months, once you have reached the recommended level and found your maintenance dose then test twice a year - March/April and October/November.

Is the spray blue colour - that’s 1000iu

Or green one is 3000iu

You need B12, folate and ferritin tested next time as well as vitamin D

Do you supplement

Vitamin C

Selenium

Hi

I’ve got my k2 and d3 now

So it’s two drops of the d3

How many drops of the k2 should I have please

SeasideSusie profile image
SeasideSusieRemembering in reply toOwleyes

If you bought the Vitabay Organics K2-mk7 then it's 3 drops to give 100mcg.

Previous post showing low B12, folate and ferritin

Are you now improving vitamin levels?

How do you feel?

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Is this how you do your tests?

Your GP will only look at low TSH and, if anything, say you are over treated

But your FT4 is some way off top of range and FT3 only mid range

Owleyes profile image
Owleyes in reply toSlowDragon

Yes since I joined and was given the info to help me. Bloods always done about 08.00/09.00.

Always fasting levo left off 24hours

Yes GP only looked at TSH.

What do I need to do to get my levels sorted?

Owleyes in reply toSlowDragon

I don’t feel like I’m vibrating anymore. But my skins like sandpaper. And it’s a good job I’ve got thick hair. Im sticking to the Keto but not as strict.

SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toOwleyes

Dry skin - once a week a bath using magnesium flakes (from Better You) can help soften skin

Hi

Do I need to up my levo again?

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toOwleyes

Yes.....in my opinion you do need increase in Levothyroxine. At least to 112mcg and retested again 6-8 weeks later

Probably further increase to 125mcg

But will GP agree?

You may find conversion gets worse as TSH drops. In which case you will need addition of small dose of T3 prescribed

Email Dionne at Thyroid Uk for list of recommended thyroid specialists who will prescribe T3

Roughly where in the Uk are you?

Dr Toft, past president of the British Thyroid Association and leading endocrinologist, states in Pulse Magazine,

"The appropriate dose of levothyroxine is that which restores euthyroidism and serum TSH to the lower part of the reference range - 0.2-0.5mU/l.

In this case, free thyroxine is likely to be in the upper part of its reference range or even slightly elevated – 18-22pmol/l.

Most patients will feel well in that circumstance. But some need a higher dose of levothyroxine to suppress serum TSH and then the serum-free T4 concentration will be elevated at around 24-28pmol/l.

This 'exogenous subclinical hyperthyroidism' is not dangerous as long as serum T3 is unequivocally normal – that is, serum total around T3 1.7nmol/l (reference range 1.0-2.2nmol/l)."

You can obtain a copy of the articles from Thyroid UK email print it and highlight question 6 to show your doctor

please email Dionne at

tukadmin@thyroiduk.org

Professor Toft recent article saying, T3 may be necessary for many otherwise we need high FT4 and suppressed TSH in order to have high enough FT3

I’m Swindon Wiltshire.

So if my TSH conversion gets worse will I know in myself, will I feel unwell?

Are there any meetings held? I’d like to sit down with someone or will the Endo’s on the list see me privately?

I’ve mailed Dionne.

There are questions I have that I need answers to.

If I didn’t have your help I’d be lost and in a tight mess.

I have worked in a Endo clinic, there are people trotting about with no idea why they feel unwell with ‘normal’ blood results.

Suggest you see if GP will increase Levothyroxine

Retesting 6-8 weeks later

If they won't, then yes you will need to see endocrinologist to get dose increase in Levothyroxine (or addition of small dose of T3)

Keep working on improving vitamins too

Remember you MUST stop any supplements with biotin in (e.g. Igennus Super B) a week before any blood tests as biotin can falsely affect test results
