Both are on the low side.

It's said that for thyroid hormone to work properly (that's our own as well as replacement hormone) ferritin needs to be at least 70, preferably half way through range.

However, I have seen that for females 100-130 is a good level.

Folate is recommended to be at least half way through range (11.5 with that range), so eating plenty of folate rich foods can help, also consider a B Complex containing melthylfolate rather than folic acid. If you do supplement with a B Complex it will contain Biotin (B7) and this should be left off for 7 days before any blood tests because if biotin is used in the testing procedjure (some lab's equipment uses biotin) then results for some tests may be skewed.

What about B12?

B12 7.2. 3.1-19.9

What type of B12 test is that? I've not seen a result or range like that before.

A Serum B12 test has a range of something like 140 - 800ish.

Active B12 has a range of something like 37.5 - 188.

I’ll have to ring gp and check what result she has given me.

It looks more like a Folate test to me.

B12 325ng/l range 180.0-915.0

B12 325ng/l range 180.0-915.0 (ng/L is the same as pg/ml)

So that's on the low side. According to an extract from the book, "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:

"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".

"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."

You can check for signs of B12 deficiency here and if you have any then list them to discuss with your GP and ask to be tested for B12 eficiency/pernicious anaemia.

Many people with B12 in the 300s have needed to go on B12 injections. GPs should go by symptoms not results.

If you don't have any then a good B Complex such as Igennus Super B or Thorne Basic B will contain enough B12 to help raise your level and it will also keep all B vitamins in balance.

This info has helped with the way I’ve been feeling lately. Will go see GP.
