Hello. To members who know about magnesium levels.. Is a blood test for magnesium a good indication of your absorption or is it one of those that could be misleading? Thank you.

Magnesium blood tests are of little use, red blood cell magnesium has some use but not much. If someone has low serum ionised magnesium then it confirms deficiency but so many deficient people have normal serum levels. It is the intracellular levels that matter and there is no easy way to test. The best one can do is try supplementing.

Thank you for this. Do you think the medichecks magnesium blood test is the serum ionised magnesium? Is this just your standard magnesium blood test? I have tried supplementing with Magnesium Malate and it keeps me awake all night :-/

They don't say what it is. They make statements about most magnesium being in bone etc but take care not to say what the test is or how useful it is. This is unethical, I would not deal with this company.

Right okay thank you I will bear this in mind in future. Its a bit late for this one as I have already had it now and waiting for results.

Perhaps try magnesium on the skin

Magnesium oil spray or magnesium flakes to put in the bath can be relaxing

Many find calm vitality magnesium powder (which is magnesium citrate) relaxing. If going to try it, starting with small dose like 1/4 teaspoon

Malate tends to keep you alert but Gylcinate helps you sleep so I take malate midmorning and glycinate before bed. I once got them the wrong way round and was awake all night!

Thank you. Muscle pain, weakness, spasms, twitching, injury not healing... waiting for bloods on many things - could be my thyroid levels.

Have you used the topical ones before? And have you thought about CBD oil?

And are you sure of the purity/potency of the CBD oil?

It was expensive but I don't think that necessarily means it is what it says it is. I had noticeable success with it for two other things but am looking to source another brand as its out of production atm. Do you have knowledge in this area / any recommendations?

These are the two sites I’ve been recommended by someone who’s used their products personally and had good results.

anaturaltouch.co.uk

simply-cbd.co.uk

I’ll get mine next pay day as it’s been really expensive getting well this month alone 😂

Consumer Reports (a U.S. based non-profit that tests products) has just announced that it plans to begin testing of CBD products to ensure purity. This is not paid for by the government, so they are soliciting donations for the effort. Here is a survey the organization published: consumerreports.org/cbd/cbd...

Hi, I recently did a hair mineral analysis test (one that doesn't wash hair-supposed to be most reliables?) and it showed under range magnesium. Because calcium was on the higher side, it showed a large imbalance, which I've read can contribute to anxiety and sleep problems to name but a few so have been delving into the world of magnesium! (I previously had a blood test via Dr, which said it was ok, but on reading seems this is often the case?)

I wa ted to get started whilst reading about it all,I have a magnesium spray which I spray onto legs at night. Am working way up to doseage. I've definitely slept better, so thinking I may try some oral supplements to. I have a book by Carolyn Dean which I find a great mine of info and have just signed up to her website, well worth a look...I'm hoping this is another piece to the jigsaw puzzle! If you need anymore info, please ask...😀

Back in the 90s,I was tested at a lab in London (name available) by being hitched up to a machine which tested muscle reactions to assess magnesium. Was on massive doses of Bio-Magnesium because allergy doc said my body would be unable to take enough in otherwise. B12, folate and fats were also low,
