Hi pips thinking about you ,I have magnesium salts that I put in the bath I wouldn't be without them they are of eBay and called mag chloride flakes £7.99 maybe if you wollowed in a hot bath with salts it might help well I hope so ,take care x
Hi pippins2 - I get my Epsom salts from Amazon but have been using supplements with zinc from Holland and Barrett health food store . I'm sure you can get elsewhere. Also got magnesium spray rub with wintergreen from drmyhills web store Jax 💕
Pippin2, I buy Mag chloride flakes and make a saturated solution up with purified water( which I always have in the house for other reasons anyway, tho you could probably just use filtered tap water) I use this as a spray every morning. You can buy sprays ready made up but this is cheaper and easy to do. If you google magnesium supplementation you can read up some good info about different forms and the pro's and cons. I also tried some other forms which you take orally, but found they triggered bladder problems, although they are better known for affecting the bowels, which for sluggish hypo digestive systems could be a plus.
Some of the liquid oral mixes also taste pretty grim........

I buy magnesium citrate tablets, and take a dose of 300mg per day. It makes some people a little sleepy so evening dosing is best. It also has a mild laxative effect.
My Nutritionist prescribed Magnesium with B6 which is required for absorption. Solgar makes a 400mg/tab. I take 6/day for the constipation and stressiness.

Hi It is safer to take magnesium rich foods as magnesium has a tiny range and supplements should only be taken under medical supervision with frequent blood tests. It can affect the Potassium too which is very dangerous.

Hi, I have been taking magnesium for approx 5 years now and was initially recommended Magnesium Citrate as that is most easily absorbed in the gut. Magnesium is notoriously poor to absorb so some forms just get excreted out. I was also advised to top up with Epsom salt baths 2-3 times a week. You can get full instructions on how to do this on internet. I take 400mg of Solgar magnesium citrate which is 107% your RDA, as magnesium is hard to get from food sources alone as soil is now chemically laden and depleted of minerals also mineral content depletes during the transport of fruits and veg. dispute the instruction on the bottle which says take with a meal I take as per the advice given by my health care specialist, which was take before bed not with calcium. Hope that helps.
Don't take Mag Oxide! Not absorbed well so waste of time and money. Glycinate is good but I found it made me very constipated so found that 1Glycinate + 2 citrate suit me fine!

Hi I have trouble taking it orally upsets my tummy but have been buying organic magnesium oil from Australia for 4 years my gp Poo pooed it and said that won't work transdermal but he had to eat his words when he tested my bloods a few months later and I was over the top of the range I buy organic amazing oil ..
