Royheravi,

I thought 300-400mg was the recommended dose.

Okay thanks. I looked online and it said 350 was the maximum?

Royheravi,

Well the mag I have is 375mg so 350mg can't be the maximum.

Depends on how low your levels are.

Magnesium is not dangerous, too much and you will get loose or have diarrhea, I have way above the numbers you mention, and take magnesium soaks in tub. I follow a protocol on FB and you need to think about the co-factors that magnesium uses and needs imo

Okay, just wondering what the best way is for it to get absorbed ?

Transdermally works very well, Magnesium Chloride Crystals absorb best but are very bitter!! I use Magnesium Sulphate which is Epsom salts in foot baths and spa. I also take magnesium tabs and drink 2 litres of magnesium water a day which also gets in the carbonate which is part of the co-factors. I follow a root cause protocol which puts Magnesium as its most important mineral, we deplete it by just stress alone!

Take the magnesium citrate form.... that is the most easily digestible form.

I do the magnesium salts soak to, lavender scent! Very relaxing, helps me sleep and is a good way to detox!

The recommended daily allowance of magnesium for adults in the UK is 300mg a day for men and 270mg for women. That said, there's little reason to be unduly concerned about the 400mg - much depends on its form as to what can be absorbed and lots of supplements have much lower amounts of elemental Mg than it seems.

Okay. I bought a higher dose because the 150 I originally was taking wasn't high enough and now I'm worried about taking too much? What is the best way to get it to be absorbed?

Unless you have kidney, liver issues or other relevant conditions, it's very unlikely you'd have a problem with a supplement at this level.

tbh, the co-factors around magnesium and its absorption start to be complex very quickly. This website (I've no association with it) has a decent overview: my-magnesium.com

Hi Royheravi, I have been taking Solar 400mg per day Magnesium Citrate.

What are you taking it for?

Have you had a renal analysis done?

Looking at reference.medscape.com/drug... its states RDA at 320mg for over 30 years old

Magnesium Citrate is a laxative and therefore good for my gut motility too!

Who told you that was too much? A doctor no doubt.. who is trained to write out prescription and treat symptoms rather than get to the root of the problem and prevention of the problem. I take 500 mg mag citrate a day. I take 250mg in the late morning and 250mg in the early evening. Symptoms of taking too much magnesium is that you will have loose stools. That is why we need to start a low dosage, like just 250 mg a day and then after a couple of weeks, add another 250mg. :)

Excellent thankyou. Should I do that or take 500mg in one go? Nope, no loose stools!!

I am on 1300 mg of magnesium glycinate and am still deficient at the cellular level. I took 1800 mg before. I have been doing this for four years and have been fine.
