Help with Test results.

I had my thyroid panel results back and am more than a little concerned. I had been feeling well and then not! So I had thyroid panel done and when the results came back, I realised I had not upped the meds for over three years. This is what set my alarm bells ringing.

T4. - 33. / TSH - 11.20/ Free Thyroxine 7.7. /. Free T3. 5.6 /. FT4:FT3 Ratio. 1.4

Reverse T3(rT3) 18

Thyroglobulin 32

Peroxidase TPO 59

I have since upped my dose adding a bit at a time over the last two months. Now at times I feel as though I am over the top with meds. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

So, what were you taking, and what are you taking now?

According to the TSH you were very under-medicated. But, for the other results, we need the ranges to understand them. :)

Without ranges on these tests it's impossible to say what results indicate

Likely TPO antibodies are over range

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take immediately after blood draw. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
