I have an overactive Thyroid and my new Endo has kept me on Neomercazole and added 200mg of Selenium daily with Vit D once a week to help with my overactive thyroid. Has anyone had any experience with Selenium?

Did he test your vit D and selenium before putting you on them? If not, insist he does.
How were you diagnosed with over-active thyroid? Did you have your antibodies tested? If so, which ones?
Hi there, my vitamin D was 27 which he said was a bit low? I have Graves’ disease. TG antibody > 1000 should be <4.11 TPO antibody 660 should be < 5.61 THS receptor Antibody is 68.38 should be less than 1.8.
I am on Neomercazole 40mg,
My latest T4 was 23 range 10-22 when in 30mg Neomercazole.
TSH 0. Range 0.27-4.2
Since taking Selenium and Vit D and now 40Mg of Neomercazole I have diarrhoea and faster heart rate... it’s all very weird. My graves is becoming resistant to Neomercazole too so I think I will have to have RAI to remove my thyroid. I am trying to hang on to my thyroid if possible...but it doesn’t look good.
Well, it rather looks like you have Hashi's as well as Grave's, which does complicate things, I believe.
Your vit D was low. Not surprising. But, didn't he test the selenium? Have you tried stopping it for a while, to see if the diarrhea stops?
yep! One of the best treatments actually you can receive and also has numerous other health benefits. I was recently on one such pill containing Selenium, Zinc, Ashwagandha extracts and other natural vitamins and minerals. Worked great for me
