Period, how to manage bad periods to help get through the week.

So ive only just started on the new dose of Vit D n following all the other vitamins and advice from other posts sorting out vitamins after blood test results etc....

Thyroxine now on 125 for a few weeks ish,lots of resting over festive time not been feeling as bad.

But now my Period has arrived and again I feel horrific. My body pains gets worse excruciating pain obvious tummy pain, but especially side of thighs, hips, pelvis, knees and most joints.

Ive even got Magnesium bath salts too.

Hopefully once vitamins in my system things will improve but I wondered if anyone has and tips on adding extra vitamins before during periods or any other helpful advice. I eat more dark green veg, calcium and red meat etc but any advice would be great.

Just be aware it does take time to get vitamins optimal, particularly if they are very low. It took me 5 months to get mine sorted but well worth the effort!

If your periods are very bad you need your progesterone testing. No idea how old you are or what stage you are at? Its all connected low thyroid and low progesterone usually cause horrible period problems

I second the progesterone link

But also magnesium- try taking supplements in the week leading up to your period as it relaxes the prostaglandins that control both uterine and abdominal cramping

The bath salts are good for the hip and other problems you get during period but best to try and prevent beforehand with the supplements

Avoid foods that cause indigestion or IBs type symptoms (low fodmap) as again abdominal cramps heighten the period pain too

I had horrendous (like worse than labour) pain I think due to estrogen dominance as a result (again, I think, self diagnosing) of a mirena coil, adrenal problems and hypothyroid.I’ve been using pg cream for three months and the pain was almost gone. Dr said I had hyperplasia (?) of my cervix so I’m guessing the pain is like that of endometriosis.

I couldn’t believe the pain, and ironically Its coming back as I ran out of cream last month so it seems I’ve undone three months of progress.

Def recommend progesterone cream if you have any of the other estrogen dominant symptoms 😉
