What time did you do the bloods, as that's important with cortisol? if it was done around 8-9am then it is on the low side & should warrant further investigation by an Endo for a short synacthen test to see how your adrenal glands are responding. It is important to have an ACTH blood test done at the same time to see if the issue is with the pituitary gland.

yes I did them before 9am

Okay so it's on the low side & as you are struggling with other symptoms it needs further investigation.

Looking at previous post

You are normally taking 10mcg T3 and 100mcg levothyroxine

Is that correct?

Testing should be done as follows

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or quarter of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

As advised on previous post by SeasideSusie

How long before test did you stop levothyroxine and T3?

Yes that is correct re dosage however I was having palpitations so reduced my T3 to just half which would be 5mcg ..Plus I forgot to stop it when I went to the Dr for my bloods re Methotrexate and Cosentyx check as I didn't realise that they intended doing the thyroid bloods as well !Consequently had phone call from Dr re high level of TSH . Sorry to be dense but do I need to do bloods again as per your guidelines above ? Or wait to see what Dr says

Sorry not clear on what you were saying

You have reduced T3 to 5mcg per day

How long ago?

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after any dose change

How long in hours was last dose of T3 before blood test?

How long in hours was last dose of levothyroxine before blood test?

Your results suggest you are under medicated....but obviously you if left too long gap between last dose levothyroxine and last dose of T3 your results would show false low results

TSH is suppressed, which is almost inevitable on any dose of T3

When I had the bloods tested by the Dr a month or so ago I had not stopped any of my meds therefore on 100 mcg Levo and 10 mcg T3 the night before test . As for the private test it was in excess of 5 days of no pills of any type at all before bloods given and I didn't feel any worse or better for it .But Ive always said the same re Levo as I stopped it years ago without weaning as didnt think t was doing any good and felt no difference once off it . I was led to believe I should have felt unwell but there was no change just the usual continuing tiredness fatigue etc .But was put back on Levo again a lot later by my Dr ! I did initially feel better with the T3 I sourced but as I said had palpitations and I cant say I was feeling energetic just not quite as bad

So if you stopped levothyroxine and T3 five days before test, no wonder your results are showing extremely under medicated

That was complete waste of money testing that way

Recommend you let levels settle for a minimum of 6-8 weeks now back on 100mcg levothyroxine plus 5mcg T3

When you retest. You only need to stop any vitamin supplements that contain biotin- eg vitamin B complex a week before any blood tests. If you take any iron supplements, stop these a week before blood test too

Testing thyroid levels. Always test as early as possible in morning - at 9am

Take last 5mcg T3 9pm night before

As you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime, adjust as follows

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

Your results clearly show you have virtually no thyroid function of your own

Come back with new post once you get testing done in couple of months time
