I did a saliva test and found that I have low cortisol in the morning, high cortisol in the afternoon, normal in the evening and high at nighttime. I have been working on my adrenals, taking Vitamin C, B complex, fish oil, Celtic sea salt, meditation in addition to vitamin D3, magnesium, k2 and zinc. My doctor now has me taking pregnenolone and enerphos and baicalin to balance my cortisol and aid in sleep. It is helping but I would like to know if anyone else takes this and has it helped. I would also like to know if adding T3 to this mixture, would it help with balancing cortisol. I am now taking 150 mcg of Synthroid and I do have some T3 available. Also, would like to know if anyone has been able to overcome insomnia and the rest of adrenal problems after balancing cortisol, optimizing their vitamins and thyroid levels.

High and Low Cortisol
It depends if you need to take T3. And we can only know that if you post your thyroid blood test results and ranges.
Sounds to me like you might have a hidden food allergy thing going on. Have you had any food allergy testing done? That would explain why it is low in the morning but spikes at times during the day. Hidden food allergy reactions ( ie. efffect on cortisol) usually are delayed. That is you don’t have effects until an hour or two or even much longer after eating. Because of the delay and atypical symptoms you would not be aware of a food allergy. For instance you test in the morning as low cortisol then eat breakfast so sometime in the afternoon there is a spike. You cortisol settles down after awhile but then you eat lunch and awhile later there is another spike, etc. Do you have a favorite food or something you eat regularly? Or could be something like dairy that is in a lot of foods.
I would not think T3 would be helpful since your cortisol is fluctuating.
