Good Endo in Western Massachusetts (USA)?

Hello -

I'm asking on behalf of my sister. She is in need of a good endocrinologist - one very versed in treating thyroid (most seem to be only interested in treating diabetes). We suspect she may have Hashimotos. My very good endo/functional medicine doctor is too far a distance to travel for her as she is so very ill. If any one knows of a good endo in the western Massachusetts area, please let me know. I would love to hear of your experiences with the particular endo as well. PM's welcome.

Thanks so much!

If any member should have the information you request they will respond by Private Message.

I think you will realise that the majority of members are based in the UK and some within Europe.

I wonder if Stopthethyroidmadness or hypothyroidmom.com/ would have information.

If your sister gets a Full Thyroid Function Test, she can post her results on the forum, with the ranges, for comments from members. She should follow the procedure below:-

The earliest possible appointment, fasting (she can drink water) and if she was taking thyroid hormones (usually levothyroxine) she should allow a gap of 24 hours from last dose and test and take afterwards.

A Full Thyroid Function Test is:

TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.

Get a print-out of the results with the ranges and post for comments,

Thank you Shaws.

Yes, I’m aware but I know there are many members here (like myself) who are in the US. Just hoping one of them might be seeing a good endo in her neck of the woods.

She’s on no thyroid medication. She has seen a few Endos and they only test TSH. Over the years her TSH has fluctuated greatly (I only just found this out) and no doc has ever told her she has a thyroid issue. The usual “everything looks normal”. I suspect she may have hashis because of the range her TSH has been (as high as 9+ and as low as 1). She’s only now just realizing she could have something wrong with thyroid since another sister is now being seen by an endo (appt at the end of this month).

Personally, I think STTM and Hypothyroidmom are a little extreme. They seem to push an agenda (Levo bad, NDT good). I prefer the open-mindedness and experience of everyone here. 😊
